I can navigate using the arrow keys if the sheet is unlocked. If its locked I have to click on them with my mouse. Scroll Lock is also off. Suggestions?

I've been having a strange problem lately. I have a fairly lengthy macro that works perfectly most of the time. Occasionally it will run as expected but as soon as the macro ends, excel becomes unresponsive to mouse-clicks. When I click anywhere (trying to select a cell, or an excel menu item...clicking anywhere in excel) I'll get the a 'ding' system sound and nothing will happen. BUT, if I use the keyboard arrow keys, I can see that the active cell selection moves accordingly. Then it gets really strange - when I have a cell highlighted and press any key to input text, it gets duplicated. So if I press "s' it will input "ss" into the cell, and then when I press enter it will auto-move to the next cell down, but nothing ends up getting saved into the previous cell.
I don't understand what's going on at all. I can't think of anything in my macro that would have these kinds of effects. I've made sure that screenupdating is turned back on at the end of every procedure. If I go into the VBE, I can manually run procedures and they all work fine. The only way I've been able to get back to normal is by force closing excel altogether and re-opening. Any ideas?

Still having trouble, and the same thing is happening with this workbook on two different computers, so I don't think it's a hardware, or OS specific issue. When it gets locked up like this, I can still do anything in the VBE (edits cells, run macros, etc.) with no problems. If I'm in the excel window, I can click alt on the keyboard and the shortcut keys for the menu come up, but I can't go deeper than that by clicking the letter shortcuts, they do nothing. If I use the delete key to delete the contents of a cell, then it gets deleted. But if I type anything else (numbers, letters, or symbols) then it types 2 instances of the key every time, yet when I hit enter, nothing changes in the cell. I also can't really bring focus to the excel window if something else (ie. the VBE) is on top of it, clicking into the excel window just gives the little system 'ding' sound and nothing happens.
If I hit the save button in the VBE (since I can't click anything in the excel window), then it seems to snap out of it and go back to normal. I tried searching for anything simmilar to this and can't find anything...
Any help would be much appreciated. This is driving me nuts!

I have a weird one here. I cannot scroll up or down on a particular worksheet. All the other sheets in the workbook operate successfully, but this one appears to be locked. I have tried both the right hand scroll bar and the mouse. The indicator on the scroll bar moves but the page is "stuck". I have copied it out to a new workbook and this is consistent behavior here too.

Hi there! I have a workbook that is having an issue with drop down menu's. When I click in a cell the little drop down arrow appears and when I go to click on the drop down arrow nothing happens. The drop down list does not appear.
BUT.......if I click in the cell and right click and chose "pick from list" the list will then appear.
Why is this happening? Why does the drop down list not appear when I click on the arrow but only work if I chose the "pick from list" ???

This is what I want to happen but I have no idea how to do it.
If C14 = "IV" THEN E14 = Locked AND F14 = Unlocked

Hi, hope someone can assist, i want to add some arrow syimbols in to a formula, so that when the formula works out it shows an up arrow for higher or a down arrow for lower, i am using this formula at the moment because i dont know any better but it works, putting in the word up or down:

We have a number of Excel users in our office who cannot copy and paste
between Excel workbooks. They can copy and paste between worksheets. When
you highlight the section to copy and then go to the new workbook both the
paste
and paste special are "grayed out". This is true whether you right-click the
mouse, go to the edit menu, or use control keys. This occurs with any data
type and the most simple workbooks. I have seen some suggestions here but
none have worked for this particular problem. I have reset the menus and
renamed the .xlb files and neither helps. You can open the clipboard and the
paste will work, but there is no paste special option. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I made a budget with many narrow columns and have turned the data into a table. I will only ever filter the data with the left-hand most column. However, all the other columns are filled each with the grey drop-down filter arrow button, and I can no longer see the headings of these columns and frankly seeing 50 little unused arrow buttons is rather ugly. Is there any way to simply remove the filter drop-down buttons on some columns or even all of them, just leaving a filter button at the heading of the first column? I know I can hide the headings, but then I lose sight of the first filter arrow that I use.
Sorry to ask such a bizarre question, but I appreciate your help.

Random question i have a large Excel Workbook (which is protected) and has over five sheets on it - however one sheet has randomly decided not to scroll... yes i know sounds random! If i use the cursor and down arrows the selection just disappears off the screen.
The page will scroll if i filter by one field, but not if i select (All) for all filters.
All other worksheets scroll fine.
Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm going to try and explain this. I am going to have 5 data points in cells such as A2:A6
All I need is to know if there is an upward trend or downward trend of the numbers.... I can't have something that simply takes the first and last number and checks if it's higher or lower. I need to actually see if they are trending upwards. Also how would i go about making it so that if they are trending upwards it shows an up arrow, and down arrow for downwards...
And finally, if the trend continues at the same rate, how long it will take the number to reach a goal. Each data point will be 1 week apart, with an ultimate goal needed to be achieved at the end.
This will be a completely separate formula on the sheet....
Any help?

In excel i have a sheet open with about 30 columns in it. I try to use the scroll bar to move to the right and nothing happens apart from the scroll bar moves along. If i use the right button on the keyboard the scroll bar moves but i cannot see the columns I want. I cannot see anything that would of caused this.

Some time ago I created a spreadsheet and greyed out the areas that weren't needed. Now I need to expand the spreadsheet and use more columns. Trouble is I've forgotten how to unhide those columns. I didn't write any macros and usings the right-click unhide method is proven futile. The sheet isn't protected which is puzzling since I can't get the mouse to even highlight any of the greyed out areas.
Any suggestions would be fantastic!

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I consider myself a more advanced Excel user and can navigate my way around fairly well. I've written a spreadsheet and am wondering if there is a way to permit data entry in a cell, contingent upon another cell being populated.
In simple terms, you can't enter data in cell X, until cell "Y" has been populated with something.

My problem is Tab no longer moves your active cell selection one to the right. It now moves to the last cell in your spreadsheet to the right (similar to CTRL+Arrow Key Right).
I seem to remember this being a simple setting you can change, but was unable to find it myself, or search the web for the way out. So my last result is asking the experts .
Do any of you know how to make it so Tab goes back to just moving one cell to the right again?

I have a worksheet that is locked and protected now, except for cells in a certain collumn. I have named the cells in that column "MS96A".
If a user enters a date in a cell or range of cells anywhere in the column, the changed cells also need to be locked and protected (Once they enter a date, it is not allowed EVER to be changed again. Corporate requirement! *Shrug*).
What I am looking for is this. If the user selects that cell again, they will get the usual pop-up message, "The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected..."
I think I am close, but I am getting an "End If without block If" error on the If Clause.

I've been using Excel for years and had very few issues. However, I recently went into a spreadsheet to update it and was unable to select and enter data into an individual cell. When I click on a cell and try to enter #s nothing happens (my num lock is on). Then when I try to click into another cell it just highlights that cell, along with any other that I move my cursor over. Once I click on one cell I can't stop the highlighting from happening. I can't even click on anything in the toolbar. I am extremely confused, can anyone help?
I recently moved into a new office and I am using a brand new computer on our network. When trying to edit an existing file, I'm not able to select a single cell and type. After clicking on a cell, if I move the mouse at all (even without pressing the left button) it just continues highlighting cells no matter where I move the mouse. I am also not able to click on the tool bars at all. I have to actually Ctrl-Alt_del to get out of the program. I'm sure this is something simple, but I don't know that much about this program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All on a sudden my mouse pointer in excel is not working properly. I cannot use my mouse to drag and fill, or to adjust the page break lines in the Page Break View mode. It always is in the shape of the white cross with black border and never changes it shape when pointed at the lower right edge of cells too. Now.......what to do in order to get out of this problem.

I'm trying to use VBA to go to a website that requires a User Name, Password, and a Submit Button.
So far I can get everything to work besides the Submit part. The code runs without errors, but doesn't actually "hit" the submit button on the webpage.
For posting, I removed my actual user name and password and and used the generic " User Name " and " Password " highlighted in blue.
