Macro To Copy Files From One Directory To Another Directory.

Hi All,
I have below macro which creates a new directory on a network drive and then copies some files to the same directory. The directory name is as different every day as it also has date in it's name. I am able to create a new directory every day using the below macro but it doesn't allow me to copy the files from a different directory to the new created directory. Please help.
Code:

Sub RunDownloadTool()
Dim filePath As String
Dim foldername As String
filePath = "\\OCS\Datadump\Daily\"
foldername = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("B1").Value
MkDir (filePath & foldername)
FileCopy "\\OCS\Datadump\Daily\REGO\AML.bat", "\\OCS\Datadump\Daily\" & foldername & "\" & AML.bat
End Sub

The Above macro gets stuck on the FileCopy Line.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

I am trying to use the following Access VB code to rename all the files from *.aqi in a directory to *.csv:

Code:

Sub test()
Name "C:\myfolder\*.aqi" As "C:\myfolder\*.csv"
End Sub

The problem is that VBA does not accept wild cards (at least as given here).

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have a VBMacro Excel file loaded on a Server that numerous people access. A Macro in this file creates a Copy of a specific Sheet within the Active Workbook and I want to Save it to the individual's Desktop.

How do I find out what the current User's desktop folder path is each time the Marco is run by a different User?

Example User's path: 'C:\Documents and Settings\jfarc\Desktop'

Where 'jfarc' is the name of the current User which, will of course change with every different User that runs the Macro.

Also, is there a way to pull out of Excel what is the current User's 'Options | General | Default File Location' entry? Which may differ from the above directory.

I am familiar with and use the following coding for Opening/Saving files to the current directory of the opened workbook, but it only gives the path of the existing Excel workbook and not the current User's Directory Path:

Dim wbThis As Workbook
Set wbThis = ThisWorkbook
ChDir wbThis.Path

Hi all,

The following code is placed in workbook 'A' and is used to open workbook 'B'. These workbooks will now always be housed in the same directory and i want to change the code to use a relative path reference by determining the path of workbook 'A'. here's what I had:

Sub income_statement()

Application.WindowState = xlMaximized
Application.Workbooks.Open "C:\Documents and Settings\.....\workbook B.xls", UpdateLinks:=xlUpdateLinksAlways

End Sub

could you suggest how to change this to use a relative path reference?

Hello,

I have a number of different files that I often need to run a macro on. In order for me to do it on the 75-100 files I have at any given time, I need to open one, run the macro, close and save, then open the next one.

Is it possible to write a macro that will start with the first file in a folder, open it and update links, run a macro, save and close, and open the next file in the folder until it has open all the files in the folder.

I have experience with creating macros that reference different workbooks, but not sure how to go about opening files with different filenames (without referencing the exact filename).

I'd like to be able to have basic code for opening, saving and closing, opening next file, saving and closing, etc. and input the macro I'd need to run in each file in the appropriate location. Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jason

Can anyone help me with creating a macro that will save the worksheet as a pdf in a specific folder with the value of a cell and the date. This is what I have so far.

ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:=Range("H10").Value & Format(Date, "mmdd")

This saves it as the correct cell value + the date, but it saves it to my documents. I need it to save to a shared folder on a network drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS

I am trying to get my macro to do this on open. Check if a1 is empty, if its empty run another macro (which is an input box to put something IN a1), but if A1 has something in it, DO NOTHING.

I keep getting errors, saying I'm not formulating my if statements correctly.

This is what I have:
Code:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
If Range("a1") = "" Then macrox
else do nothing
End If
End Sub

In our MIS format the in A coulum branches are sorted and listed in a sequence with sub total Region. I have data where if if do the pivot and change the data the out put should be displayed accordingly in the MIS format. Can any one help me how can we do this or is there any other office addins/softwares are available if so the data is changed on a daily basis and if we do the pivot it will automatically copy the data to the MIS format.

I have an Excel workbook that was created by a former coworker. It includes a macro that, among other things, displays a message box about the 2008 file. The macro runs as soon as the file is opened. I'd like to access that macro to correct the date to 2011 and see what else, if anything, it's doing for me (it doesn't appear to do much). I can find references to creating macros to hide and unhide rows/columns and I found ways to delete all macros in a workbook, but I cannot find anything about unhiding a macro without knowing its name.

Does anyone know of a way to unhide this macro?

Thanks!

Hello,

As the title goes this is as simple as it gets. The macro worked good when I was using excel 2003 but now that I have 2007 everything works for except the resizing (Picture.Width & Picture. Height).

Code:

Sub AddImage()
Dim strPath As String
Dim strFile As String
Dim Picture As Object
Dim Response As String
Dim C As Range
strPath = "C:\\Photos\"

For Each C In Range("A1", Range("A65536").End(xlUp))
    If C  0 Then
        With C.Offset(0, 1)
            Set Picture = Nothing
            On Error Resume Next
            Set Picture = Sheets("Raw Pix").Pictures.Insert(strPath & C.Value & ".jpg")
            Picture.Top = .Top
            Picture.Left = .Left
            Picture.LockAspectRatio = msoTrue
            Picture.Width = 157
            Picture.Height = 138

    End With
    End If

NextC:
Next C
End Sub

I have tried to record some macros while I am resizing the pictures but to no avail the macros are blank.

Please help

Thanks!

Thought I'd append my experience of the above problem - you can find all sorts of references to it everywhere.

My problem was that a userform defined with Excel at work (containing DT pickers) gave the message in the title when opening it at home. I had a light-bulb moment and wondered whether there was a difference in the version numbers for MSCOMCT2.OCX at work and at home. Turned out the work version was newer. I then copied the MSCOMCT2.* files from work, made a backup of them at home and copied those from work to my C-drive (Windows XP - c:\windows\system32\ ).

No luck. I then rebooted the machine - still no luck.
Then, finally I unregistered the old DLL via
Code:

regsvr32 /u c:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

(not sure if this was necessary, but I didn't think it could hurt). Reregistered the DLL via
Code:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

and what do you know - it worked.

Summa summarum - it could be an idea to check whether the two machines have different version numbers for the MSCOMCT2.OCX files.

We have a number of Excel users in our office who cannot copy and paste
between Excel workbooks. They can copy and paste between worksheets. When
you highlight the section to copy and then go to the new workbook both the
paste
and paste special are "grayed out". This is true whether you right-click the
mouse, go to the edit menu, or use control keys. This occurs with any data
type and the most simple workbooks. I have seen some suggestions here but
none have worked for this particular problem. I have reset the menus and
renamed the .xlb files and neither helps. You can open the clipboard and the
paste will work, but there is no paste special option. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all.

I have set up a workbook that is sent out to lots of different users. They each keep and use their own copy.

I have set it up so that everything looks OK and is visible on MY screen, but I'm conscious that some users may have different screen sizes, different toolbars set up, and so on, which might make some parts not immediately visible to them.

I have set up an auto-execute macro which automatically sets the zoom factor to best fit, for several of the worksheets, and this works fine.
Here's the code that does it.
Code:

Sheets("WELCOME").Select
    Range("A1:N18").Select
    ActiveWindow.Zoom = True

By repeating this code for each worksheet, I can make each one be zoomed just right.

However, the file contains 8 sheets that are all identically laid out, except the number of rows is different.
What I want to do is go to the worksheet that has the largest number of rows (it's always the same worksheet, so I know which one it is), set the zoom factor for THAT worksheet (which I can do, and it always has the same number of rows), and then take THAT zoom factor, whatever it is - and it will vary depending on the user - and apply that to the other worksheets that have a similar layout.

I could just go through each worksheet and zoom it automatically, but that would mean that some of the sheets looked very large, others very small, and I'd like them to have a consistent appearance.
I could also specify a range on each worksheet that was similar to the appropriate range on the longest worksheet, and zoom that automatically, but that's not ideal either, because some of the row heights vary from sheet to sheet, and again I'll end up with different font sizes.

Anyone know how to do this ?

Hi guys,

Looking for some help and would appreciate your help. I want to prevent people cutting/copy/pasting on a spreadsheet I have developed. A couple of users keep doing so which in turn knackers my formulas. There will be occasions where I will need to be able to use these functions for maintenance and updates. Ideally I would like have a private marcro which I can run to enable these features as and when needed.

I've been at this all morning and feel like I'm going round in circles. I've tried various bits of code (sourced via google etc) & have ended up with a whole manner of outcomes but not the one I want.

To summaraise what I am looking for is some vba code which will do the following Disable cut,copy and paste when sheet is opened Enable cut,copy and paste when closed Have a macro which when run will allow me to cut/copy paste so as to implement updates when necessary.
Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Newbie here and I don't know where to start... I'm trying to set up a macro to when data is pasted to a TEMPLATE worksheet tab it will automatically copy and paste data to another sheet based on the month value.
For example:
If data contains 06/01/2011 in cell A1, then data needs to be pasted to "Jun" worksheet within the same workbook.

Can someone assist or can give some direction? Thank you

Hello,

I'd like to be able to copy data from a list of websites into Excel. It would take too long to navigate to do an Excel web query for each site, so is it possible to write a macro that could do that?

Thank you!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to write a macro which prints to PDF and saves the file name as the contents of a cell. I've been looking through all the posts currently on this forum to get something working. I'm using the following code -

Sub PrintPDF()
Filename = "C:\Documents and Settings\samb\My Documents\" & ActiveSheet.Range("Z1").Value
SendKeys Filename & "{ENTER}", False
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, ActivePrinter:= _
"Adobe PDF:", Collate:=True
End Sub

The macro prints to PDF, but then it stops at the Save As stage, where I have to manually enter the name of the file and click Save. I want the macro to automatically name the file with the contents of cell Z1. I then want it to then automatically press enter. Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi All,

I got the below macro which uses IE and open the URLs. I want to create a userform with listbox with radio button and commandbutton on the same which will help me to connect to each url when I select the same in listbox and click on the commandbutton.
Code:

Sub DoBrowse1()
    Dim ie As Object
    Set ie = CreateObject("Internetexplorer.Application")
    ie.Visible = True
    ie.Navigate "www.google.com"
End Sub

Any suggestions..

I have never really used VBA and so am completely stuck at this problem. I need to create a macro which auto-populates a master worksheet from the individual user sheets in a shared workbook.

Sheet 1 is the master sheet "Team Stats". There will be an undetermined number of individual worksheets to accomodate new staff.

Each worksheet will be identical, using columns A-I with row 1 having the headings:

Date, Name, Reference, Value, Price, Age, Purchased?, Destination, Add. Products (the last 3 columns will have a drop-down list which will be used to enter data into the cell).

There will be a varying number of rows in each of the individual sheets.

If possible I would like the macro to run every time data is entered into one of the individual worksheets. If this is not then it would be fien to update every time the workbook is opened.

If anyone can help it would really cut down the time I spend collating these stats every day!

Workbook A has a cell that gets data from workbook B as an external link.
It does this using the indirect function because it needs to concatenate the
path and filename from other cells.

Problem is that if workbook B is closed, the cell in workbook A shows #REF!.

So can indirect work using closed external files or must the external files
be opened?

Is there a clever way of making that work?

Thanks!

I'm trying to open a pdf file from within excel vba. I have tried using the followhyperlink method but adobe acrobat opens very briefly then immediately closes Code:

Sub OpenPDF()

'Dim pdf As String

    On Error Resume Next

    'pdf file to open
    pdf = "K:\PDF\mypdf.pdf"

    'open the pdf file
    ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink pdf

End Sub

So then I tried to create an instance of acrobat by setting a reference to the acrobat object but I can't get this to work either!

The code I'm using is Code:

Sub OpenPDF()

    Dim pdf As AcroPDDoc
    Dim strPDF As String

    Set pdf = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")

    'pdf file to open
    strPDF = "K:\PDF\mypdf.pdf"

    'open the pdf file
    pdf.Open strPDF

End Sub

Any ideas what could be wrong with either approach?

Thank-you
