Count Quantity By Week Number

I have a list of 200 records.

I want to count the number of records per week number.

I have tried

=SUMPRODUCT(--(WEEKNUM('Completed Rejects'!M$1:M$1000)=Analysis!L2))

Where WEEKNUM('Completed Rejects'!M$1:M$1000) is the list of dates

and Analysis!L2 is the week number (in a number format)

and I have tried

=COUNTIF(WEEKNUM('Completed Rejects'!M:M),Analysis!L2)



Sumproduct gives a #Value
Countif gives a #NUM!


Any help appreciated.

Hi Excel experts,
I am working on a worksheet, and would like to have an entire row transferred to another worksheet based upon a certain cell's value.

Having searched through the many solved threads on this site, I attempted to customize some of the code to my worksheet. Not being proficient in Macro/VBA, I failed. I figured I would ask for help, and see if anyone can provide what I am looking for.

Basically, I am attempting to construct a "work in process" file, and would like all completed work to be deleted from the work in process sheet, and transferred to a sheet that contains a running list of all work completed.

Attached is an example of what I am working on. I would like Column Q (Status) to determine if a row can be moved to a sheet that contains the list of all work completed, and eliminated from the original sheet. Once Status is updated to "Complete", it would be helpful to be able to run a macro/click a button that would perform the transfer.

Can anyone assist?

I'm trying to format a worksheet to show how many days overdue certain tasks are, and running into a couple of issues. The sheet is set up with Due Dates in Column A, Days Overdue in Column B, and Date Completed in Column C. My first thought was just to use as simple a formula as possible in Column B =Today()-A2. This worked alright for tasks that already had Due Dates assigned, but if Column A was blank I'd get a high number in Column B. I also realized that tasks will continue to show as overdue even after I enter the completed-on date in Column C. Is there a relatively simple way to tackle this formula? Thanks in advance for suggestions. (I've attached an example with the column headings I want to use.)


I am trying to correct a formula for a productivity worksheet in excel. The idea is that we would have the ability to input the number of hours worked each day and the number of direct hours (working with clients) per day. Then take the daily percentages and add them then devide them to determine the final productivity percentage for the week. Additionally not everyone works a full week so I would need it to only divide the percentages of the days that were completed. Any suggestions? or does anybody know a formula that would accomplish this already? I am good with basic excel and was able to identify a flaw in the current productivity sheet.


I need a formula to calculate Turn Around Time. Find below the sample data and details for your reference.

Received Date & Time: 10/29/2010 3:27:00 PM
Completed Date & Time: 11/1/2010 3:57:32 AM
Business Hours: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM
Non Business hours: 05:00 PM to 08:00 AM
Weekdays : Monday to Friday
Weekends: Saturday & Sunday

If I calculate TAT for this time period it should show me 1 hour 33 minutes, why because business hours are closing by 5:00 PM on 10/29 so it should not calculate duration after 5:00 PM to until 08:00 AM on next day, however 10/29 is Friday so formula should calculate the duration from 10/29 Friday 3:37 PM to 10/29 5:00 PM and again it should calculate from 8:00 AM on 11/01 Monday and formula should skip Saturday & Sunday.

In this scenario I have completed the task before 8:00 AM on 11/01 so it should show duration of 1hour 33 minutes.

I am hoping for some assistance. Here is what I have....

I am trying to get counts of certain values.

This is in the same workbook but different sheets.
On sheet 1 is where my formula lies. In a cell, I want it to look at sheet 2 column B and look for instances of "A", then I want it to look in the same row it found "A" and look at the value in column "N" and evaluate if there is an amount. If there isn't skip it and don't count it, if there is a value count it if it falls within a given range.

An example of the formula is below...what am I missing?

=COUNTIF(Sheet2!B:B,(VLOOKUP(A,Sheet2!B:N,13,FALSE)=0:500))
=COUNTIF(Sheet2!B:B,(VLOOKUP(A,Sheet2!B:N,13,FALSE)=501:1000))

I would like to know how to make excel calculate which inventory is left in the FIFO method, quantities that are bought first are the first to be sold. Basically where the quantity and price is derived from.

For example:
APPLE
bought 100 on FEB 1 @$1
bought 500 on FEB 1 @$1
bought 1000 on FEB 10 @$1
sold 300 on FEB 12 @$1.5
bought 100 on FEB 13 @$1.1
sold 100 on FEB 13 @$1.2
bought 1000 on FEB 14 @$1
bought 400 on FEB 15 @$1
sold 2000 on FEB 19 @$1.5

For this, the formula/function would know that:
=>for the 300 sold on FEB 12, 100 bought on FEB 1 is depleted and 200 of the 500 bought on FEB 1 is depleted.
=>for the 100 sold on FEB 13, the 100 bought on FEB 13 is depleted
=>for the 2000 sold on FEB 19, it knows that:
==>the 100 bought on FEB 1, the 200 of the 500 bought on FEB 1, and the 100 bought on FEB 13 is depleted so it can't consider those quantities
==>it would consider the remaining 300 of the 500 bought on FEB 1, 1000 bought on FEB 10, and 700 of the 1000 bought on FEB 14

The remaining quantities that are left would be the remaining 300 of the 1000 bought on Feb 14 and the 400 bought on FEB 15.

I would like to know for each sold transaction, which quantities at which prices on which day were sold.

Hello, I'm trying to count the number of times a name appears across multiple worksheets but I can't seem to figure it out.


I have 6 sheets to count and all the names are in column A (from A1:A100) on each sheet. The names are not in a particular order.

On sheet 7 I want to have a cell beside each persons name that counts the number of times their name appeared on the other 6 sheets.

For example Sheet 7 (called total) would have

Joe 5 (where 5 is the outcome of the formula I'm looking for to count all the times "Joe" appears on sheets 1-6).

I have it counting per sheet with =COUNTIF(A1:A130,"name") but this is not quite what I am looking for.

format the text cells (name, etc) to have text entered as uppercase
automatically although the user might use title or lower case.

UPPER function cannot make cell look at itself and perform the function

I need a formula to automatically calculate if the Job was completed in the
date range that was provided, and to return Early, Late or Ok accordingly.



I need a formula to calculate overtime, after a work week of 40 hours.

for example: if an employee works 10 hours a day we would not count towards overtime until the employee completes a 40 hour work week.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I'm concerned with making a timetable for my school which we used to do it manually
I need a code to distribute each teacher timetable with the following basis:
the number of classes_ the teacher is assinged to work with_multiplied by the number of periods ( which is changeable ).
e.g ; Teacher 1 has 2 classes (1-1 &1-2). Each class should be visited 9 timea a week.
So Teacher 1 should work 18 periods a week
the distribution I need 'd look like the example in Sheet("timetable")

From limited experience I know that excel calculates dates via serial numbers.

I have formulas to add a number of days to a cell containing an entered date and display the resulting new date (ie. 03/01/2011 (c34)+11 = 03/12/2011)

I am seeking to leave resulting formula cell blank until a date is entered in the input cell. Currently when the input cell is empty the formula cell obviously displays 1/11/1900 using the above example.

What conditional format would achieve leaving the formula cell blank until date data in entered into the source cell?

Hopefully a simpler question for your experience level than mine.

Im working with a large data spreadsheet that has Yes and No answers in different columns. There are blanks within the selection too.
I need to calculate only the Yes.
I have tried using the filters in the Pivot Table field list and they are not working.
So now i'm trying to add a COUNTIF formula in the Calculated Fields section.
The formula I'm using is =Countif('Time limit extension'="yes") and i get the answer "too few."
What should I be using in the formula to get the calculated field to work? I have search the whole forum and I haven't found an answer that can help me.

Please HELP!!!


for example if you have values of

how to count number of occurances where value of 1 is 3 consecutive times? Obviously answer is 3 in this instance but is there an excel formula to count/sum this?

I have two columns of data: column A contains the date and time in the form dd/mm/yyyy. Column B contains a number value. All the times are in order, so column A looks like:

01/01/2007
02/01/2007
03/01/2007

I have data from 2007 to 2010. I need to calculate an average daily value (in column B) for each month, and display it in column C. So, for January, I need to calculate the average of 31 days, February, 28 days, etc.

Is there a function I can use to do this? I've been trying the AVERAGEIF formula but can't get it to work. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and have been using excel for about 3 years. I have learned alot but still can not figure out how to make numbers add up in one box like a running total. Meaning, If I have a list and in the list is one cell for each item say like cell a1 is for a can of coke and cell a2 is for a car tire and so on,and i want to keep a running total by adding a number to cell a1 or a2 like say "3 i.e. 3 tires or cans of coke" and later that day i come back and need to add 2 more ......so i want to be able to just click on the cell a1 or a2 and enter the number 2 and the cell would add the number in it to the number im adding to it to show a result of 5 tires or whatever. I am sorry If i am not asking the question in an understandable manor but its the best way I can think to ask it.lol anyways, any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to come up with a solution to calculate the man hours and days worked over multiple sheets.

I have a file that has 8 sheets. the first seven sheets are the days of the week and the 8th sheet is where I want to calculate the hours.

The days of the week consists of "Name" "Date" Hours"

The 8th sheet consists of "Name", "Days of the week in their own column (7 columns in total)", "Total Hours" and "Total Days Worked"

Now... each day is always a different group and what I'm hoping for is to create a formula that can grab each name with their hours and throw them into the 8th sheet. So when the end of the week is done I have all the Employees weekly hours and days worked all finished.

I hope this makes sense. This file is to track about 100 employees that are on a rotational work schedule.

I have attached a sample file.

I am copying charts to display the same information for different regions. When I work on the copied region, I find it a cumbersome task to go through each charts source data and change the cell references to the different region. Essentially I am doing a trending analysis for each region, with a region having its own sheet with 5 charts per sheet. What I have done is copy the original sheet and am updating the sheet for another regions source data by going to the source data. The source data is all in the same row/column format, but each regions source data has its own sheet. Is there a more automatic way to do this? Perhaps a way to update all 5 charts references at the same time.


Ok, I'm going to try and explain this. I am going to have 5 data points in cells such as A2:A6

All I need is to know if there is an upward trend or downward trend of the numbers.... I can't have something that simply takes the first and last number and checks if it's higher or lower. I need to actually see if they are trending upwards. Also how would i go about making it so that if they are trending upwards it shows an up arrow, and down arrow for downwards...

And finally, if the trend continues at the same rate, how long it will take the number to reach a goal. Each data point will be 1 week apart, with an ultimate goal needed to be achieved at the end.
This will be a completely separate formula on the sheet....

Any help?


I have a given length of steel bar...Example(550 feet)
I have various cut lengths that I can pick from...
14'-10".....13'- 9".. 12'-8"........(up to 6 different lengths)

I need to know the best combination of lengths to cut the long bar into to have minimal scrap left when we get to the end of the 550 feet.....

Cut as many of the longest cut lengths possiable.....Cut as few of the shortest cut lengths possiable

Due to the fact that I will have to convert this to a PLC application when completed, I want to find a mathmatical way to do this inside excel and not use the "solver"....Assuming that I/we can come up with an equation to do this .....
Any and all advice/help would be appricated.....
