How To Show Percentage Difference In Chart

Hi folks,

Hoping someone can help me quickly as I'm pulling my hair out and have a deadline getting too close.

Been trailing the net and this board but can't work out how to do a simple variance.

How do I work out the difference between two numbers - including negatives.

If the numbers are all positive, it's fine as it's simply a case of A - B = C which is your difference. However, that doesn't work if B is negative.

I need a formula that would give the following:

First Number / Second Number / Difference
1 / 5 / 4
1 / -5 / -6
-1 / 5 / 6
-1 / -5 / -4
-5 / -1 / 4

Hopefully there's a simple function I've been missing.

I am trying to calculate our On Time Delivery. I want this as a simple percentage of jobs. I have got this running in the following way:

Column M - Estimated Delivery dates
Column N - Actual Delivery dates
Column O - =IF(SUM(M2-N2)>0,1,0)

Then I have calculated On Time Delivery as: =SUM((SUM(O2:O252))/(COUNTA(N2:N252)))

This seems to work fine. My problem is, if we enter a date in Estimated without a corresponding Actual date, the formula for Column O fills out anyway and improves our On Time Delivery Percentage. How can I set this up so that the formula doesn't calculate if there is no data in Column N?

I have a graph with various information in it. One is a line graph that tracks hours used in that department per month. The problem is that when it gets to the last month, and there is not yet data for future months, the line goes down to Zero (leavin this big diagonal line that makes the data look funny). I need this line to stop on the last month there is data for. (I do not manually enter the data, it is a formula that I do not wish to delete.) I know I can manually move the data that the line is pulling to make it stop on the last month, but I have a graph for 36 different departments and that's a pain to have to manually adjust 36 graphs each month. Is there a way to tell the line to stop if there is no data? Thanks!!

In Excel I have been trying to find an easier way to calculate a time
difference where the times cross midnight. Example:
Start time: 23:50:00
End time: 00:15:00

How would you formulate an equation to determine the duration of time or
differnce between the start and end time?

How can I stretch a spreadsheet to fit the page? If I try to make it one page by one page, it changes nothing. If I change the percentage, it becomes two wide...I am just trying to change the height so that it can be read on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

In previous year i divided all values one by one by inputting /100000 but its so tedious.
Pl help.

On my calculator, if I divide 462,534.05 by 335 I get 1,380.70. Then if I times 1,380.70 by 335 I get 462,534.50. Which is what I need it to be because I need to calculate the difference of a figure not dividing equally.

On excel, if I divide 462,534.05 by 335 I get 1,380.70. Then if I times 1,380.70 by 335 I get the SAME result of 462,534.05.

I have to account for the difference of not dividing equally so there is some format or accounting function that's preset that I don't want but I have no idea how to fix it or format my excel sheet to calculate as my calculator would.

I have an extensive spreadsheet with several columns and all showing borders
where each cell/column begins and ends. However there are a few cells where
the break with the next cell does not show the line.

I have highlighed the cell in question, gone to format/cell/borders and
everything looks fine. Black color + format border shows square with all
sides of square showing.

Any thoughts on how to fix these few random cells.

I am needing a formula that would cause a currency amount from a calculation to round up or down to the nearest 100.00 mark. The current formula is ie: =E10*F10 (e10 being an amount of money and f10 being a percentage fo it.) I am needing the resulting answer to round up or down to the nearest 100. So if the answer is below the 50 mark it would round down and above it would round up. If that is not possible then just rounding down would be acceptable.

How do i do this??

I am setting up a PivotTable and only want to show the actual raw data values in the PivotTable field and NOT any sum, count, average, max, min, etc etc.

How can I do this? I only seem to have the options for sums, counts, etc. There are no options for just presenting the data.

So for example, rather than a PivotTable that results in counts of 1, 1, 1 in each cell, I want it to show Compay1, Company2, Company3, etc.

Below is the code I am using. I am trying to change the subject to show the value of a cell.

When it sends it does not show the name in c5.
It just reads "Attrition for"

Should there be a different code?

I have been using Excel (XP) to make a text chart for several months. Some of
my text entries are rather lengthy. The past two weeks these lengthy entries
are showing up as pound signs (#########) when I click off the cell. I know
the text will fit in the cell, and the problem isn't solved by making the
cell bigger or using a little bit less text. I have the cells formatted as
"text" and "wrap to fit". I have printed the pages and the printed version
also has pound signs. I just want my text to show up!

I have a list of 10-digit numbers, but I want to apply a formula/function or
format the cells so that only the first 6 digits show up. Is this possible?
