cannot Rename A Sheet To The Same Name As Another Sheet, A Referenced Object Library Or A Workbook Refernced By Visual Basic

I'm having a problem in a workbook with several ActiveX command buttons. I had been using the form control buttons to run macros, but the boss wanted each button to have it's own, different color. So I removed the form control buttons and created new ActiveX command buttons. I got into the button properties and set the background colors. I added the _Click code to run the macros when the user clicked the buttons.

All of the buttons were working fine. Then I saved and closed the workbook and went to lunch. Now when I open the workbook, the buttons don't work! When I click them nothing happens. They appear frozen. They don't even seem to click. No error message. Nothing.

If I right-click the button in Design Mode and select Properties, I get sheet properties not the button properties. I can't seem to locate the command button properties any longer. I still see the button name "cmdButtonGetInfo" and "=EMBED("Forms.CommandButton.1","") in the name box and formula bar. The odd thing is if I create a new button it works fine until I save and close the file. When I reopen the file none of the buttons work.

It's like the buttons are being disabled when I close or open the file. Any suggestions?

I have protected a worksheet as it has several formulae on that I do not wat anyone else to mistakingly delete. I then have spent time on setting up a sheet to track changes (just in case this has any bearing on the problem). This is the only thing that I think I have changed since protecting this morning and now I cannot unprotect the sheet. I have not protected the workbook and the unprotect sheet function is now greyed out.

Any ideas?

I am trying to use the following Access VB code to rename all the files from *.aqi in a directory to *.csv:

The problem is that VBA does not accept wild cards (at least as given here).

Any suggestions?

I have never really used VBA and so am completely stuck at this problem. I need to create a macro which auto-populates a master worksheet from the individual user sheets in a shared workbook.

Sheet 1 is the master sheet "Team Stats". There will be an undetermined number of individual worksheets to accomodate new staff.

Each worksheet will be identical, using columns A-I with row 1 having the headings:

Date, Name, Reference, Value, Price, Age, Purchased?, Destination, Add. Products (the last 3 columns will have a drop-down list which will be used to enter data into the cell).

There will be a varying number of rows in each of the individual sheets.

If possible I would like the macro to run every time data is entered into one of the individual worksheets. If this is not then it would be fien to update every time the workbook is opened.

If anyone can help it would really cut down the time I spend collating these stats every day!

I have a workbook that has recently changed on me and is causing a lot of grief. I have a lot of named ranges that the scope of the named range has changed to a new sheet. This is creating a lot of problems! Is there any way to manually change the scope of a named range? without deleting the nmaed range and recreating it?

I'm using some basic code below in an on Workbook Open event to format cells with a value less then 2 and less than 1 with a particular color.

The code works, but it really slows my worksheet down when opening. Is there better way to write this? Thanks!

Hi All,

Random question i have a large Excel Workbook (which is protected) and has over five sheets on it - however one sheet has randomly decided not to scroll... yes i know sounds random! If i use the cursor and down arrows the selection just disappears off the screen.
The page will scroll if i filter by one field, but not if i select (All) for all filters.
All other worksheets scroll fine.
Any suggestions?

I am a very advanced Excel user so this is a new one for me.

When I open any spreadsheet (new or already populated) the black box that normally frames the active cell is missing (showing which cell you have selected). Likewise when I 'select all' the sheet does not become shaded.

In addition:

Can not fill series
Can not change cell format (specifically to show Currency or Accounting w/$ symbol)

And I am sure there is much more that I have not found yet. I have not seen a single thread on this topic anywhere on the internet.

I have a VBMacro Excel file loaded on a Server that numerous people access. A Macro in this file creates a Copy of a specific Sheet within the Active Workbook and I want to Save it to the individual's Desktop.

How do I find out what the current User's desktop folder path is each time the Marco is run by a different User?

Example User's path: 'C:\Documents and Settings\jfarc\Desktop'

Where 'jfarc' is the name of the current User which, will of course change with every different User that runs the Macro.

Also, is there a way to pull out of Excel what is the current User's 'Options | General | Default File Location' entry? Which may differ from the above directory.

I am familiar with and use the following coding for Opening/Saving files to the current directory of the opened workbook, but it only gives the path of the existing Excel workbook and not the current User's Directory Path:

Hello, what I would like to do is take a portion of a sheet..... So the cells I want to mirror are in the proposal sheet cells B32 x F51. And then mirror the exact duplicate copy to another sheet. The other sheet should have those same values at A20 X G39. What I am trying to do is have a sheet that has skus, prices, and so forth and then when I add,delete, merge, color, or do anything to the cell on the "proposal creation" sheet I want it to mirror only a specific cells to another sheet that is "salesman copy" that we will print to clients. So this way ont he proposal copy a salesman can insert rows or even change the color of the cells and then have it mirror exactly the same on the "salesman copy" which is what we will print for clients. How do you automatically add rows and update values for cells to a linked worksheet in which rows have been added? For example: Sheet 1, columns A & B are linked to Sheet 2, columns A & B. Sheet 2 has values in A1:A5 & B1:B5 and Sheet 1, since it is linked, has the same info. I want to add a row in between 3 & 4 on Sheet 2 and want Sheet 1 to automatically add the same row and update the value of the cell in column A & B.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a workbook that I have unprotected (all - workbook & worksheets). However, I have a sheet that I know is there (because I created it) but I cannot unhide. I know it is there because in the Name Manager, it points to it. Any idea how I can unhide it?

I have set up a workbook that is sent out to lots of different users. They each keep and use their own copy.

I have set it up so that everything looks OK and is visible on MY screen, but I'm conscious that some users may have different screen sizes, different toolbars set up, and so on, which might make some parts not immediately visible to them.

I have set up an auto-execute macro which automatically sets the zoom factor to best fit, for several of the worksheets, and this works fine.
Here's the code that does it.

By repeating this code for each worksheet, I can make each one be zoomed just right.

However, the file contains 8 sheets that are all identically laid out, except the number of rows is different.
What I want to do is go to the worksheet that has the largest number of rows (it's always the same worksheet, so I know which one it is), set the zoom factor for THAT worksheet (which I can do, and it always has the same number of rows), and then take THAT zoom factor, whatever it is - and it will vary depending on the user - and apply that to the other worksheets that have a similar layout.

I could just go through each worksheet and zoom it automatically, but that would mean that some of the sheets looked very large, others very small, and I'd like them to have a consistent appearance.
I could also specify a range on each worksheet that was similar to the appropriate range on the longest worksheet, and zoom that automatically, but that's not ideal either, because some of the row heights vary from sheet to sheet, and again I'll end up with different font sizes.

Anyone know how to do this ?

Someone once showed me how if you have a a reference to a cell in one sheet
you could double click on the cell and it would jump to the referenced cell
in the reference cell's sheet.

For example.

Sheet
A1 <--double click sheet1 cell A1 takes you to --> =Sheet2!A1

I have a number of different files that I often need to run a macro on. In order for me to do it on the 75-100 files I have at any given time, I need to open one, run the macro, close and save, then open the next one.

Is it possible to write a macro that will start with the first file in a folder, open it and update links, run a macro, save and close, and open the next file in the folder until it has open all the files in the folder.

I have experience with creating macros that reference different workbooks, but not sure how to go about opening files with different filenames (without referencing the exact filename).

I'd like to be able to have basic code for opening, saving and closing, opening next file, saving and closing, etc. and input the macro I'd need to run in each file in the appropriate location. Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
