Shared Spreadsheet Wont Scroll

I keep getting the following problem after working with a shared document for a couple of days:

One of the sheets won't scroll down (it can scroll from side to side) - the scroll bar moves, but the actual content stays the same. Even if I use my keyboard to go to lower rows, the content of those rows is displayed in the input bar, but the pane doesn't scroll.

Please could someone help me to get it scrolling again

Thank you!

I have used split panes to show two copies of my screen side by side/left and right. There are already two horizontal scroll bars on the bottom - one on each pane. There is only one vertical scroll bar on the right side of the right pane. Two questions:

1. Can a VERTICAL scroll bar be added to the right side the left pane so that each pane can independently be scrolled up and down without the other pane scrolling simultaneously?

1. Is there a way to remove these HORIZONTAL scroll bars on the bottom?

Thanks! (My first post...)

I've created a document where I'd like to be able to scroll up and down the first 10 columns, but keep all columns after that stationary.

For example, I want to be able to scroll up and down in columns A-J, but I want to see the content in cells K1:O25 always on the right side.

Is there a way to do this?

Gents and ladies,

I was recently shown by "Gerald Higgins" (a helpful poster on this forum)how to look at 2 sheets within the same file, side by side. He showed me the feature in this post here....

Now i need to find a way to scroll both sheets in a synchronized fashion. In other words, I would like to tile them left and right of eachtoher. Then align them in some fashion (for this example, lets say line 32 on the left side is directly aligned to line 32 on the right side). Then when i scroll one of them, the other one scrolls identically, line for line.

as it stands now, i have to scroll all over the place to find something in the first sheet, and then go scroll the second shet until i find the samer section. in other words, both sheets are formatted exactly the same.

Any ideas would be apprecaited. Just looking for an efficiency trick here. scrolling them both is silly and time consuming.

In excel i have a sheet open with about 30 columns in it. I try to use the scroll bar to move to the right and nothing happens apart from the scroll bar moves along. If i use the right button on the keyboard the scroll bar moves but i cannot see the columns I want. I cannot see anything that would of caused this.

Can anyone help?

My vertical scroll bar only allows me to scroll to the last row that has data
in it. I want to be able to scroll down to any row I want, whether I have
data there or not.

I was able to do this until today. I copied an excel spreadsheet from a
word doc and pasted it into a new Excel workbook. Now the vertical scroll
bar only allows me to scroll to the last row with data. The mouse wheel will
let me scroll down further, but not the scroll bar.

How do I reset the scroll bar to become "small" so that I can scroll down

I have Excel 2010 and I can't scroll up in my spreadsheet. I can scroll down, or use the scroll bar to go up. I am using a touchpad. Nothing is hidden or locked; I can view everything using the scroll bar. This happens with other spreadsheets too, but not a new, blank one.

I am created a forecasting tool. I would like to use scroll bars to calculate a projected amount based on a prior years actuals. Each month will have a scroll bar for each line item. Scroll up to increase a projection, scroll down to decrease not really rocket science. But, when I create an initial scroll bar then copy and paste it to where I would like it to be positioned, the Link Cell is stays the same. Is there a more efficient way to move the Link Cell besides going into each scroll bar's format control? I could easily have 120 scroll bars.

The scroll bar in the bottom right of my worksheet is very small. Because the scroll bar is so small when I try to scroll within my sheet it is I end up scrolling out to columns ga-xa with ease rather than a-aa. Is there a way I can quickly fix the scroll bar so it is larger and only scrolling between where I have data?

Excel automaticaly ajusts the scroll bar as your file grows in width and hight, but it does not do this automaticaly when it shrinks. Is there a way to reset the scroll bars?

I have a document that we use that varies alot in length from week to week (sometimes 100 lines, sometimes 1000 lines). When the document has 1000 lines it's fine as the buttom of the scroll bar is pretty much close to the end of the file, but when it's only 100 the end of the scroll bar is way to far away from the actual end of file.

I know that you can just recreate a new file and copy paste the content and the scroll bar will adjust, but there must be away to do it directly in a file.

Hi all, I have just added a second chart to a workbook and then proceeded to add a second scroll bar for that chart. The problem is, the second scroll bar will also scroll the first chart, even though I do not have it linked to it. Is this normal?

I would like to hide / unhide columns using a scroll bar (from either the forms toolbar or control toolbox). For example, I have a range of data (held within columns) that stretches from left to right on screen. Rather than use the horizontal scroll bar to scroll left to right across the entire worksheet, I simply want to scroll, left to right (and then back again) across a predetermined range. I though I may be able to do this by hiding / unhiding columns whenever I clicked on either the left or right side of the scroll bar.

Can anyone help ?

I have a weird one here. I cannot scroll up or down on a particular worksheet. All the other sheets in the workbook operate successfully, but this one appears to be locked. I have tried both the right hand scroll bar and the mouse. The indicator on the scroll bar moves but the page is "stuck". I have copied it out to a new workbook and this is consistent behavior here too.

I have a workbook that has a number of worksheets in it. Most of the sheets,
with 200 rows, allow me to use the vertical scroll bar to scroll to the last
row and stop. However, I have one sheet that allows me to scroll to the
bottom of the worksheet (row 65K).

What would cause this... I have cleared all the cells and rows under my last
populated cell, no print area, no cell formatting.

Is there a way of being able to mouse scroll down a list box on a userform?

I have a list box of approximately 2000 rows with a vertical scroll bar, but my list box wont scroll using the wheel mouse?

I have checked every setting I can find but cant seem to enable this.

Many thanks.

This is a follow-up to SCA's post of 10/21/04. Like SCA, I have a freeze pane
problem in shared Excel 200 files that have autofilter enabled. Here's the

I have a habit of freezing the top two rows in all of the worksheets in a
shared workbook so that column headings in row 1 and filters in row 2 are
visible when I scroll down. In shared files only, the freeze frame will have
mysteriously jumped down to another row, for example row 100, when I first
open a file. In other words, when I first open the worksheet, I might see
rows 1 to 30 on my screen, but I can't scroll down because the freeze frame
is down at row 100. This can happen at odd times on all worksheets in a
workbook, or just some of the worksheets in a workbook. So unfortunately, I
often end up having to reset the freeze pane at row 2 again for all or some
of the worksheets.

Since there are only two of us in the office sharing these workbooks, I'm
confident that neither of us are changing the placement of the
frozen panes. Perhaps the fact that we are both filtering columns and saving
the shared workbooks is causing Excel to reset the freeze pane inadvertantly.

If someone could figure out this problem it would be very helpful to me.
Shared workbooks are a powerful tool, but this problem really limits my
ability to use shared workbooks more broadly in my office.

I want to be able to auto-scroll the contents of Userform label when the content exceeds viewable area (eg the vertical scroll bars appear).

So the text/value of the textbox very slowly scrolls down to all is displayed, then re-starts and repeats. (ideally to scroll without the scrollbars visible).

The textbox will be locked to view only, not required for data entry.

See sample file attached.

I put in a scroll bar on a dynamic chart yesterday, which I thought was working fine but I realized today still needs some tweaking. The scroll bar is scrolling down values that are referenced from another sheet. The values are part of a named range, which will be added to as time goes on. Currently, I just have the max value of the scroll bar set to the number of entries in the named range. This works fine now, but as values are added will the max value of the scroll bar also have to be changed?

If so, is there a way to automatically set the scroll bar max value to equal the number of entries in the named range? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a user form, I have set the user form properties so that I have a vertical scroll bar.

The user form scroll height is 400 and
Scroll Top is at 0

In the visual basic editor, the scroll bar is at the top of the form

The problem I have is that when the user form opens the scroll bar is half way down. I have to drag it back to the top. I saw this problem on another form but there was not an answer for it.

Can some one help?

I have an excel file with an added scroll bar. The scroll bar i used to link to a cell to change values with a click on the scroll bar.

The thing is sometimes when i click the scroll bar it acts as if i clicked 20 times n the scroll bar just keeps going.

Whats causing this and how do I stop it?

just case i included my excel file and the scroll bars i mentioned are at the top left

I think deactivate is the wrong word....

In a worksheet, when one scrolls down, one can normally only scroll to the last "active" cell in the worksheet i.e. a cell with some content in it.

I have a worksheet where the scroll bar is going all the way down to the bottom row of the worksheet, but the actual data in the worksheet only goes up to about row 200. This makes it very difficult to use the scroll bar to navigate around these 200 rows.

Is there a way that I can "deactivate" the cells below my data, so that the scroll bar only goes from row 1 to row 200?

I hope I've explained this clearly?!

I'm trying to figure out a way to make the scroll area on a sheet variable. Currently, I have a drop down which uses smallscroll to navigate between a set of charts on a sheet. Once that routine has run though, I would like to lock the scroll area so that the user cannot scroll up and down past the selected charts. However, if the dropdown is changed, the scroll area also needs to change.

I've tried inserting the correct scroll areas at the end of each case statement, but this only seems to work for the first case encountered, i.e. Excel sets the scroll area and will not change it if a new case is selected.

Essentially, what I may looking for a is a way to reset the scroll area (or clear it from the active sheet's properties) to the entire sheet and then lock it again. I tried doing .scrollarea="" followed by .scrollarea="whatever it needs to be" but the scrollarea doesn't get reset.

Also, hiding rows is not an option...

I've got a userform that pops up when a button is clicked. It has a listbox with two columns, the second of which is populated with the output of an evaluate formulae in the initialize code.

My problem is that the output of this formula is usually a lengthy text string which means the content of the second column is wider than the column itself and no scroll bar appears to allow you to scroll and see it all. I've made the column wider, but realistically I need the ability to scroll.

I'm not sure whether there's some way of prompting the listbox to have a scroll bar or if I need to attach one, and if I need to attach one I could do with some pointers as I've never used one before and am not sure how to get it to work (had a bit of a play around but it wasn't very successful!) - can anyone offer any advice please please?

I am working on a project which requires a way to enable all of the sheets within a suite (about 8 separate sheets within the workbook) to scroll to the same position.

All sheets are set up with a list of products going down the page and what I would like to do is to be able to scroll to a specific product on the active sheet and when I toggle to one of the other sheets they will have scroll to this same position as well.

I am thinking that I will need to use a look up funstion to search for the product name. Any suggestion would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a spreadsheet with some scripting that automatically emails the report to whoever is on the sheet. I'm not sure what kind of scripting it is. I think my boss found it somewhere. I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I have been having.

Whenever I scroll either down or up, the first 3 rows disappear and I'm not able to scroll back up. The scrollbar shows that I'm not at the top, but it won't let me go back up. The first 3 rows contain the button to send the email. If I close out without saving and open it again, its fine, until I scroll up or down.

I have tried to see if they are frozen or hidden, and they are not. I hope I have explained it well enough. I can send the file to anyone if you would like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello I am trying to format a scroll bar on my spreadsheet and I am having trouble. I have the value 5000000 in the cell and I am supposed to insert a scroll bar allowing me to change this amount from 4000000-6000000 in increments of 100000. When i typed these values into my format box it said the value cannot be over 30000, so my question is how do I get my scroll bar to display the higher numbers in my cell? Thanks
