Present Value Of Cash Flows With Different Discount Rates

I see a formula that our Human Resources Department is using to annualize voluntary turnover.

It looks like this:

=(E3/((A3+D3)/2))*12/months

So if I substitute with some actual data:

=(6/((22+33)/2))*12/months the answer becomes 21.8% (as the annualized voluntary turnover rate).

What does the *12/months actually do mathematically? I cannot find it in the excel help files and have not been able to figure this out using math (on the calculator).

I have a sheet with a list of names on and I've noticed that when I use ctrl+F to use the find function, even when I know i have entered the correct name it still will not work. I have identifed times when I know the name is there on the sheet, but the find function says "Excel cannot find the data you are searching for"

Im unable to put any pics up as my work pc has java disable so photobucket ect won't work but has anyone else come across this problem and how did you rectify it? A search macro perhaps?

I have a set of data about with approx 7500 cells all contained in one column. The data has a series of peaks that happen, and I need to identify each peak value and place it in a cell. The peak does not occur at regular intervals but they are somewhat regular, as in within 130-230 data points. So, if one could find the first peak in the first 200 cells, identify it and store it somewhere, then look in the next 200, store it, etc. I don't know how to do that in excel. Please help

I want to create 6 numbers from 11 numbers..
lets suppose my numbers a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11
I want to generate all possibilities of the 6 numbers. But i dont want duplicate series.. I mean 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 6,5,4,3,2,1 are duplicates.

I am a very advanced Excel user so this is a new one for me.

When I open any spreadsheet (new or already populated) the black box that normally frames the active cell is missing (showing which cell you have selected). Likewise when I 'select all' the sheet does not become shaded.

In addition:

Can not fill series
Can not change cell format (specifically to show Currency or Accounting w/$ symbol)

And I am sure there is much more that I have not found yet. I have not seen a single thread on this topic anywhere on the internet.

I have several cells with data that contain both letters and numbers (4H, 8V, 4FH, etc.) What I want to do is remove only the text characters from these cells, and add the remaining number values together among a series of cells with this data type.

If your answer involves using a macro or VB, please provide a link on how to use the formula. I've never used a macro or VB.

then the the total no of combinations would be permut(3,1) = 6...

I need this to be shown as follows depending on the no of itmes and no of group no=2 in this case...

This is marc, i have one doubt in my mind. that was how to create automated attendance sheet with login name. i.e. there are 25 employees working in particular corporate sector. but HR or time keeper doesn't know who are present and absent. so if it is possible to create a login sheet which directly pop up the attendance in another sheet for the current date for particular employee. please help me. I automating a task at work that will save some time. Seems simple enough but for some reason the code I have to cause IE to wait unil ready doesnt seem to work in all cases.

Im using :

'wait until the page loads
Do While ie.Busy Or ie.readyState READYSTATE_COMPLETE
DoEvents
Loop

This doesnt seem to work well enough, since actions are occuring that should NOT occur until the browser is ready.

Any other ideas as to how to make IE wait until the page is completely ready? I wondered about possibly checking the .innerHTML to verify that a unique page element is present.

Entering time values in custom format [h]:mm:ss
Cells accept hours over 23,
Adding cells in column returns correct total time.
Have not found a way to multiply these cells by a $ hourly rate.
So use HOUR(cell ref) and MINUTE(cell ref) to capture values in referenced
cell - then use these values to calculate total payment for $rate per hour.
However, the HOUR(cell ref) formula returns the hours in excess of 24 when
the cell contains an hour value in excess of 23 (ie 27 hours returns 3).

I am trying to filter a list of records by the value in a cell and then (for the filtered result(s)) change the value in column Y just for the filtered results. This is the code I have at present which filters the records OK but I can't fathom what I need to do to ensure I only chnage the value of the cell(s) in column Y?

So I've got some data, which has the approximate form of a sine function. I want to find all the x-axis intercepts. I tried using the intercept function and swapping around the y values for the x values, but it only returns 1 value (so I'd guess it uses a linear regression to estimate a single line through the axis).

I was thinking of trying a nested if/and statement but I haven't quite figured out how to do it. Basically I want to identify the two values where it switches from positive to negative and also indentify the values where it goes negative to positive, I can then fit a straight line between them to find a better approximation of the intercept (though it might not be necessary). Preferably I'd like it all one function as I'm not doing it in VBA (I might do later though, we'll see).

Can anyone suggest how I'd find these value or the x-intercept. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Coffee hasn't hit my brain yet this morning and I cant figure this one out.

I have a list of names that are in the following format:

LastName Suffix, FirstName MI

The middle initial is not always present, neither is the suffix. For simplicity purposes, we will assume the suffix can ONLY be "Jr."

Here is some sample data:

Fowler, Michael

Winstead Jr., Johnny N

I want the output to be the following:

Brown, Wayne

PS (if i can get a formula that at least gets rid of the middle initial at the end (if it exists), then that would be a HUGE step in the right direction, as the Jr. only occurs on maybe 3% of my data. The middle initial is in about 80% of the data.

I need to create a IF statement where it will count the character length and if not 6 then add leading zeros to field to make a fixed 6 character length .. so if field is 489 then the if statment would make it 000489
