Conditional Formatting If Value Is >=10% Of B2

I have several cells that I would like to highlight if the value is 10% or greater of the value in B2. Is this the best approach?

=IF(B3/B2>=0.1,1,0)

If B2 = 50 and B3 = 5, there should be a highlight, but if the B3 value was changed to 4 the highlight goes away.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm trying to use conditional formatting to highlight phone calls that came in between certain hours.

The call times are in the custom format h:mm, although it could easily be changed to an Excel time format. I'm using Excel 2002. I want the cell to have a different fill color if it falls within particular time frames.

Example: If the call came in between 22:00 and 23:59 color is light green.
If the call came in between 23:59 and 08:00 the color is yellow.

Example spreadsheet is attached.

Thanks in advance.

I know that you can do PASTE > VALUES in order to keep your conditional formatting on an existing sheet, but sadly the people in my office are prone to not understanding this ("It's a bit technical") and so they just pasting blocks of text from elsewhere and lose it all.....

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to maintain the formatting when people just do a traditional C&P ?

Thanks

We have a number of Excel users in our office who cannot copy and paste
between Excel workbooks. They can copy and paste between worksheets. When
you highlight the section to copy and then go to the new workbook both the
paste
and paste special are "grayed out". This is true whether you right-click the
mouse, go to the edit menu, or use control keys. This occurs with any data
type and the most simple workbooks. I have seen some suggestions here but
none have worked for this particular problem. I have reset the menus and
renamed the .xlb files and neither helps. You can open the clipboard and the
paste will work, but there is no paste special option. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Some time ago I created a spreadsheet and greyed out the areas that weren't needed. Now I need to expand the spreadsheet and use more columns. Trouble is I've forgotten how to unhide those columns. I didn't write any macros and usings the right-click unhide method is proven futile. The sheet isn't protected which is puzzling since I can't get the mouse to even highlight any of the greyed out areas.

Any suggestions would be fantastic!
thanks

Hi guys,

would really appreciate anyones help with this.

I have a column full of text-formatted fractions...

4/5
6/4
3/1
2/5
4/5

etc, etc.....the column is very long!!

I need to convert these to actual fractions...ones I can add to equations, allowing me to multiply and add.

If I highlight the column and goto "format Cells" and change to fraction, the values still stay in the left of the cell.....its only when I manually click on each individual cell, then tick the little green tick, does the cell validate, and the value in the cell moves to the right (and is therefore a proper value).....problem is I have to keep doing this for each individual cell.....and I have 70000+ cells in this column!

Any suggestions on how I could speed this up?

thanks

I use a excel file through the course of the day and need to insert the current date in one column and the current time in the next column. I want to be able to just highlight the selected range of cells I need to insert into and hit a macro button and have the date and time inserted into just the cells I have highlighted. I'm not sure how to make this work with just the cells I've highlighted. Any help any one can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello.

I have two huge excel files, with many rows and columns, they "should" look the same.

But I need to find out if anything has been added or removed from the second one compared to the first one.

Which is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Searched this forum and Google but couldn't find what i was looking for.

Thanks in advance!

I have a problem sometimes. I will click on a cell to add information.
The cell turns blue and then wherever I move, it highlights those to.
No matter where I go on the page. If I Alt-Tab and work in another
program on my computer, that excel page keeps highlighting wherever
I move even in those other programs (I know this sounds confusing).
When I return to excel thousands and thousands of cells are blue.

The biggest problem is that the highlighting won't turn off, no matter
what. I can't select anything from the tool bars, do any work on the sheet or close the program.
I can close it only with the task manager but when I open it again,
the cursor is still stuck in the highlighting mode and won't perform any
other functions.

Do you think this is a problem with my computer, the excel program? I have changed my mouse and this didn't help.
Is there some shortcut to turn off this highlight feature other than restarting
my computer. Which is the only current way I can get rid of it.

Thanks for any advice,

I am a very advanced Excel user so this is a new one for me.

When I open any spreadsheet (new or already populated) the black box that normally frames the active cell is missing (showing which cell you have selected). Likewise when I 'select all' the sheet does not become shaded.

In addition:

Can not fill series
Can not change cell format (specifically to show Currency or Accounting w/$ symbol)

And I am sure there is much more that I have not found yet. I have not seen a single thread on this topic anywhere on the internet.

Help!

There sure is...Here's how:

From the Excel main menu:
<data><group and outline><settings>
Uncheck: Summary rows below detail

Does that help?

Could you guide me please....

I need to insert 5 blank rows repeatedly between every existing data rows
for approximately 300 rows.

If I go about doing the repeat short-cut "Control+Y", it just repeats
inserting ONE row only between the consecutive data row.

Is there some command, which helps me highlight all the rows & allows me to
insert 5 blank rows between every consecutive existing data row?

Thanks in advance for your kind advice.

How can I make a cell or the font of the cell flash or blink? I assume that
it is a function of conditional formatting. I know it is possible because I
have seen it before but I do not know how to do it.

Hi, this is something so simple that I have forgotten how to do it.
I want F3 to turn yellow if someone selects "Yes" from a drop down list in cell E3, then F3 has no fill once data is entered into it. And F3 turns Black if E3= no selected from the list. Or F3 turns red if E3 contains "TBC"

so in summary,

if E3="Yes", then F3 conditional format to Yellow until data is entered in it.
if E3="No", then F3 conditional format to Black
if E3="TBC", then E3 & F3 conditional format to Red until E3 is changed to
"Yes" or "No" at a later time.

Thanks in Advance for the help

Is there a way to use the new conditional formats (data bars, icon sets, etc) in PowerPoint? Basically, I'd like to create a table that shows icons based on data, like in Excel? I know I could paste a pre-made Excel table as a picture, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks!

Hi there

Please can someone help me. How do I create an IF formula to find cells where the number of hours in one cell is more than the number of hours in another cell? eg one cell has 0.40 hrs and another has 02.25 hours - I want have an IF formula to say where 02.25hrs > 0.40 then type "FAILED" but I cant overcome the greater than problem on the hours which is giving me the wrong answer.

Is it possible to change the color of text using a formula, such as an IF
statement? What I have in mind is something like this (stated simply): If
cells B9 or N9 or Z9 or AL9 are blank, do nothing, else color text in cell S4
red.

Hello,

I am new to using Excel and I am not very computer literate. I am looking for some help with a spreadsheet I am making. Here is the problem:

I have a column of 14 numbers in cells A1 to A14. If all of these values are less than 2%, I would like a "Pass" to display in cell B1. If any of these values are greater than 2% I would like a "Fail" to display in cell B1.

I have got a formula that works for a single cell but I can't figure out how to get it to apply to more than one cell. For example, I have entered =IF(A1<2,"Pass","Fail") in cell B1. Now if the value I enter in A1 is less than 2, it shows a "Pass", and if the value in A1 is greater than 2 it shows a "Fail" in cell B1. How can I get this to apply to all of the cells from A1 to A14?

If somebody could help me out that would be great.

Thanks,
Randy

What formula would I use if the total sum of a column was greater than 4.00 then I would minus 0.35. If not minus nothing.

Thankyou

Hi, all - I have been banging my head on the desk over this one...it's gotta be so simple, right? Have searched online, and on Mr. Excel, but still can't get this right.

I need a formula in cell L3 that says "IF cell K3 is greater than 25 but less than 30, K3, otherwise, blank." Cell K3 currently contains the value 30. My formula in L3 currently is =IF(K3>25,K3,IF(K3

Is there a trick to copy-paste a group of cells into Outlook? I don't want to paste as a picture (shows up as an attachment and is lost when someone else Replies), but formatting is skewed when pasted as an Excel object. Right now I'm recreating the table in Word, then pasting, which doesn't loose formatting.

A specific problem is cells which don't have borders show up with very light grey borders in Outlook. This, I do not want.
