Importing Word Paragraph To Excel - 1 Cell, Same Formating -- I Lose The Format

I am trying to copy a formated paragraph in word, with SHIFT Enter. This
text also has BOLD, and underline text in it.

I want to copy this to a single cell -- retaining the same format (i.e. bold
and underline) as well as change the SHIFT ENTER characters to ALT ENTER.

If I do a Copy from Word, after selecting the paragraph, and paste it into
Excel -- all the SHIFT Enter goes to new lines in Excel.

I have tried to first copy this over to Word, change all the SHIFT Enter's
to ALT Enter, and then paste to Excel -- but I either lose the format, or I
get back the multiple lines.

Reading some posts suggested that I convert all the SHFT enter's to $$$, and
then in Excel Replace the $$$ with ALT ENTER. Problem is, I lose the
formating, or everthing goes to plain text.

Is there a way to copy a paragraph to Excel -- retaining the same format?

I have a textbox in my userform where anything typed in the box is entered into cell A2 in my worksheet. However, multiple lines of text are not properly displayed in my worksheet. I have enabled MultiLine and EnterKeyBehaviour in the properties window of the textbox so I can type multiple lines in my textbox. The problem is that when I press the button to enter the text from my txtbox to cell A2, the cell doesn't actually display the text in separate lines. It just places a square symbol in the place that enter should have been pressed and the text should have been split into separate lines.

How can I get the separate lines of text in my textbox to be properly displayed in a cell? Thanks for your help in advance..


I would like to copy a small table from Word into one cell in an Excel
worksheet. The first column of the table is a list of numbers. I tried
converting the table into text with manual line breaks and tab stops to
divide columns and rows, but that didn't solve my problem.

Excel pastes the data into several rows. When I try to merge them, I
get a warning that the selection contains multiple data values, and
merging into one cell keeps the upper-left most data only.

What I tried that didn't work:
* Formatting the Excel cells as text before pasting the data.
* The various options for "Paste Special." The closest I got was
inserting the table as a Document Object, which could be a workaround,
I guess.
What I am saving for when all else fails:
* The obvious solution of copying row by row into one Excel cell.

The data in the table is information about my dad's medications. I
would like to have reference charts of how to identify the strength of
each tablet by its color and markings. I got the info from the
manufacturers' websites and entered it into tables in Word, which I
would like to copy into a more comprehensive file I am creating in
Excel. The first column of each table is the strength of the tablet,
entered as 1 mg., 2 mg., etc. The subsequent columns describe the
shape, color, and markings. There are 3 tables, each with about 4-5
rows.

Is there a way to copy each one - whether as a table or as text - into
a single Excel cell without losing data?

Is there a way I can use conditional formatting or something to change the color of the cell once I enter a value or text into that cell? For example if I currently have the A2 cell color as a gray color, and I enter information into A2 can I have it set to automatically change to no fill or any other color without having to click out of the cell, back into it, and then clicking the button?? Does that make sense??? Can someone help me?


I've tried pressing shift+enter but I can't get it!



Is there a way that will run the code from a button when the enter key is pressed. Currently the enter key moves to the next text box in the user form.


I am trying to do a very simple copy and paste of a simple formula in Excel 2007 and nothing seems to be working. Excel will not let me copy and paste a formula and will only paste the value into to workbook. For instance, if I make a very simple spreadsheet such as:
A1 type in 10, A2 type in =A1 (calculated A2 to be 10)
B1 type in 5

And then click the copy on B1, and then click paste special on cell B2, the only options it gives me are text and unicode text and so no matter how I paste, cell b2 will always be populated with a value of 5. I cannot imagine a simpler copy and paste and no matter what I do I can't make this work.
All cells are formatted as general. It seems that all copy and pasting of formulas in my excel has been disabled. If I open any spreadsheet on my computer, I can't copy and paste formulas, but do the exact same thing on the exact same spreadsheet on any other computer and it works no problem.

Any help?


I've been using Excel for years and had very few issues. However, I recently went into a spreadsheet to update it and was unable to select and enter data into an individual cell. When I click on a cell and try to enter #s nothing happens (my num lock is on). Then when I try to click into another cell it just highlights that cell, along with any other that I move my cursor over. Once I click on one cell I can't stop the highlighting from happening. I can't even click on anything in the toolbar. I am extremely confused, can anyone help?


I have noticed that a handful of people at work enter a formula as =+A1+A2 instead of the way I would enter it =A1+A2

What is the origin of the extra plus sign at the beginning? To me it seems to be unproductive and is simply not needed. I have been using Excel for over 12 years and have never needed to enter any formulas like that. Does this originate back to a much older version of Excel where it was once needed?

How do I enter the value in a cell (say B4) into a formula as a constant so it doesn't change when I copy it down the column?

For example,

B4 = 2.4 (a constant)

This is the result I want:

F6 =C8 + B4*4.243

F7 =C9 + B4*4.243

F8 =C10 + B4*4.243

B4 remains constant as I copy F6 down.

What's the correct formula for F6 so I can copy it down and keep B4 fixed?

I am entering lots of family history data into a spreadsheet. At the simplest I have columns (in cells A1 B1 C1) the headings, Surname, Forename, Year. Right now, I enter in cells A2 B2 and C2 say: Smith <Tab> John <Tab> 1555 <Enter, move mouse to the A column in the next row down). What I want to happen is when I have entered the last data in a row and pressed <Enter> I move automatically to the A-column in the next row down.

Is this possible?

I am looking for assistance in having one cell in a text format equals another cell that contains a time value in hh:mm format.

For example: Cell A1 has a time format (hh:mm) value of 04:00; which is the Start Time. I would like cell D1 to have a text format value of "04:00" (result is dependant upon what is entered in A1). I would duplicate the same formulas to reflect Stop Times in other cells.

My final result is to have another cell (F1) use the Concatenate formula to have the Start and Stop time shown in one cell as "04:00 - 12:30". The times would change based on the Time formated values entered into the Start and Stop time cells.

I have researched this in the board and found many excellent ways to do the opposite, but not convert Time format to Text format. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I need some help in this:

In a excel workbook when I copy a worksheet (to duplicate with other name) there is always a name conflict and so I have to say yes (maintain the name) or say no (and excel ask for other names) many times (sometimes more than 50 times pressing the enter button. Its possible to disable this feature?

I was testing the following methods (suggested in another thread) to disable copy/paste on a particular worksheet -- now copy and paste is disabled entirely from Excel and, apparently, from each and every excel workbook I've got. HELP!!!!!

For some reason - I can not type the same word and have it automatically come
up the next time when I enter it will not automatically come up. I must of
lost that option some how. Please help

This works, but I want to hide the text as it is entered.
Is there a way I can enter this as a property? i.e. inputbox.text.property = ... or something?? I've tried what seems intuitive, but nothing works.

I am trying to automatically capture and record the date of a cell's last change in value (date stamp). I have an item price list and if a particular cell gets updated I want to automatically record the date of change of that cell. I realize that after I change cell A1 I could tab to cell B1 and enter Ctrl+; but if I have a hundred new prices to enter I don't want to do that (plus me or the data entry person might forget).

For instance,

A B
1 $32.17 8/17/08
2 $43.20 9/12/09

If I go in and update cell A1 to $33.98 today I would like cell B1 to read 2/16/10. But I don't want cell B2 to change.

In excel, I am trying to find a formula or funtion so that when I enter a
date (1/10/05) in cell A1 for example, then B1 automatically changes to
1/11/05, C1 to 1/12/05, etc. Can anyone help? Thanks!!



I have an excel worksheet that adds two other worksheets in a data
triangle. I copied it to create a new data set and used find &
replace to change the worksheet references to the new ones.

The cells still contain the result of the old formula referring to the
previous worksheets. The only way I can get the formula to return the
correct result is to edit (F2) each cell and press enter. Calc now
(F9) does nothing.

I've seen this before, but this time, I need to calculate many
thousands of cells and don't have time for this workaround.

Any ideas?

I have set up an excel file that helps put together different text components using the vlookup and concatenate formulas for use in one plain text document .

When I try to paste the finished result into notepad/textpad/word it adds extra double quote marks throughout the text. Does anyone know how to paste it without these marks?

We have a number of Excel users in our office who cannot copy and paste
between Excel workbooks. They can copy and paste between worksheets. When
you highlight the section to copy and then go to the new workbook both the
paste
and paste special are "grayed out". This is true whether you right-click the
mouse, go to the edit menu, or use control keys. This occurs with any data
type and the most simple workbooks. I have seen some suggestions here but
none have worked for this particular problem. I have reset the menus and
renamed the .xlb files and neither helps. You can open the clipboard and the
paste will work, but there is no paste special option. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!
