Create Forms Without Vba?

Is it possible to create forms in Excel without VBA? More specifically, I'd like a way or a tool to create robust Access-like input/view forms automatically (like in Access) but still use Excel.

I know there's the Data>Form 'autoform' built into Excel, good for 32 fields in Access, and J-Walk's free Enhanced Data Form, good for an unlimited number of fields. I'm looking for something like that, but which permits customization, such as permitting check boxes for Y/N fields and the ability to move the field names and field values around on the form so they make more sense visually.

In Access, it's really easy to create forms automatically. Is there such a way, maybe a third-party tool, to do it with Excel? (That is, WITHOUT needing to code with VBA, which I cannot do.) If there were some built in wizard, like in Access, that's be GREAT!

Why not use Access? It's just too complicated for me. Plus, I get the feeling it's harder to go back and forth from Outlook to Access and vice versa, whereas with Outlook and Excel, one can more easily update changes in each by sending data to the other and overwriting the old data, thus ensuring each has the most updated data of the other.

My goal is to create a database in Excel, one which would manage my small business. (Creating a legal case management software program, similar to programs like AbacusLaw, TimeMatters, etc.) The ability to have forms to remind what data needs to be inputed, and also to see the data in a 'big picture' way so as to make sense as to what's going on (and what data is still missing) is important. I also want to use Outlook more, and have Outlook 'visually' display the data in Excel (such as when appointments are, and have Outlook pop up the appointment reminders).

Thanks for listening to my long question!

Hi! I am new to Excel and I am creating fillable forms in excel which are protected so that users canonly input data in certain cells. I am using Excel 2003. The users told me that they do not want text to go beyond the edge of the page when they are inputting data. They also want the words to wrap when they reach the end of the sentence. I am also using check boxes(yes/no) and Ifind it difficult to make the adjacent cells fillable only Thanks for your help and correct me if I am wrong as I am new to this board.

Okay, so I tried (for hours) to find a solution to this and have finally gotten frustrated to the point where i think asking here will be my best bet.

Basically I want to export data from excel worksheets to various places on a word document I had. I have created a word template as well as bookmarks for that template, as that seems to be the recommendation for performing such a task with excel.

My problem is ... Now what?

I basically have 1 constant worksheet that contains all my affiliates info (Name, Address etc), which i'd like to use to populate some bookmarks in my word template, and then i have another worksheet for the previous month, indicating sales etc for that affiliate. I intend on adding a new worksheet every month that i would use to create new invoices.

Furthermore, i'd really like to be able to update a new file (or perhaps a new page on the same file) for each company with the use of a button, similar to the one's you'd see in an access form.

Can anyone help? Let me know if you need me to clarify.

Thanks!

Matt

In my Excel spreadsheet I have a column to store the email addresses of my clients. Every time I click on the text of an email address, it automatically opens Outlook with a new message composed to that address. How do I stop this from happening? I don't even use Outlook for my email and this is really frustrating. I've tried changing the format of the column to no avail.

Thank you; your help is most appreciated.

Is there a trick to copy-paste a group of cells into Outlook? I don't want to paste as a picture (shows up as an attachment and is lost when someone else Replies), but formatting is skewed when pasted as an Excel object. Right now I'm recreating the table in Word, then pasting, which doesn't loose formatting.

A specific problem is cells which don't have borders show up with very light grey borders in Outlook. This, I do not want.

I just worked with a data set where I needed to create a unique key based on existing information where no unique key was set up as a field. I accomplished it by concatenating (using the & [concatenation] operator) several fields based on what I hypothesized and observed about their content.

I'm thinking there has to be a more automated way to discover the best unique key of existing fields and their data. I thought I'd post this as a challenge because I don't know the "right" (or better) answer.

Anyone have any ideas?

If I am using sendmail in a simple macro, is there any code I can add to actually open Outlook?

Some users of the macro are pressing the macro button and do not have Outlook open so the email isn't sent until they eventually open Outlook!

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I'm pretty new at VBA and was wondering if you could help me out on this:

I have created a VBA userform but will need to have it used by at least 5 users. My question is, can it be done with all users working at the same time and when saving their work all data entered will go to one master excel sheet? if yes, would you be kind enough to share the code?
MS Access is not an option for me so I was wondering if you could help me do this in excel.

thank you so much and would really appreciate to hear from anyone soon.

I have looked over the forums for information on how to do this, and can not find anything. I have used conditional formatting to identify duplicates in my spreadsheet. I have a unique user ID, which combines the first and last name fields into one. However, in 10,000 there are a number of John Smiths, Joe Adams, etc. With smaller lists, we search manually, and then add a 1, 2, 3, etc to each duplicate to create a unique value for the User ID.

My question is:

Is there a way to check for duplicates, and then automatically add numbers to the duplicate values to make them unique? If so, how can this be done?

So that you will have this:

JohnSmith
JohnSmith2
JohnSmith3
JaneDoe
JaneDoe2
JohnAdams
JohnAdams2
JohnAdams3
JohnAdams4

I think I have done a good job in illustrating what I would like to be able to do, but if there is still something that is unclear, I will post whatever clarification is needed.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

I have a template that automatically populates the date field with the
current date when opened, using today(). Users then Save As to have an
archive copy of their spreadsheet. However, when they go back to access
their saved sheet, the date changes from the created date to the current
date. How do I stop this in Excel?

I know that Word lets you do this by changing the code from {DATE} to
{CREATEDATE}, but I can't find a similar setting in Excel.

Please help and thank you!

I have an excel form, I want my users to be able to open the form, fill in appropriate data, then click the save button. When the button is clicked, the data in the form should be saved to a new file and then the original form should be reset (clear all values) for a new set of data entry. When the data is saved, I want the new excel sheet to be saved to a location specified within the macro so the user doesn't have any options and I want the title of the new file to be the value of one of the cells.

I'm new to macros and would appreciate any help this board can offer. Thanks...

Also, I cannot move the Pivot Table from the new Worksheet it is created in, to my existing Worksheet.

I am running Excel 2011 for Mac.

I have a Worksheet with a small amount of data, and when I click the Pivot Table button it automatically creates the Pivot Table in a new Worksheet. The Pivot Table data is fine, but I want it to display alongside the source data.
I've tried using the Move Pivot Table option and choosing to Create Pivot Table in Existing Worksheet and choosing a source cell alongside my current data, but nothing appears. Also, I checked in Edit menu and found that the Pivot Table appears to have not even been created/moved because there is no option to undo it.

Appreciate any help, let me know if you have any further questions.

Is there a way to use the new conditional formats (data bars, icon sets, etc) in PowerPoint? Basically, I'd like to create a table that shows icons based on data, like in Excel? I know I could paste a pre-made Excel table as a picture, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks!

I have a excel spreedsheet that contain external data. I would like to put a

Hello,

Is there a way to create a second worksheet that is based on data from an original sheet that will automatically update when you ADD ROWS to the original sheet?

Linking values between sheets is easy... but I need to be able to set a designated area on my A sheet that I can add rows into which will automatically be added to my B sheet.

Does anyone know of a function that I can apply for this?

Hello,

Firstly i haven't used excel to a great extent since my college days. So i'm having to re-learn 99.9% of everything i once new...

I am volunteering for a non profit organization and trying to create a reservation system for the rooms that they have - kind of like hotel software, but in excel (i did a similiar thing in college but for plane seats)

Please find it attached.

What i need it to do:

Copy all of the info from the main page to the guest lit (a new row each time).

From the guest list to the Gannt chart - i did a few tutorials on dynamic gantt charts using conditional formatting but cannot get them to work when based on data on a different worksheet.

Finaly is there a way to check for availabilty on any given date?

if just someone could point me in the right direction, i would be appreciate it so much words can't express!!!

Best Regards,

Jamie

Hi All,

I am trying to make excel automatically add a leading zero to values which are 5 digits long;

i.e. number input is 15185, then excel automatically changes it to 015185.

If I put a Customer Number Format of 0##### it works, however, a user could put any length of number into these cells, and if the number is less than 5 digits I don't want a leading zero.

Is there any way of writing a small macro to sort this out.

The numbers would be input into range B16:223.

Many thanks,

Andy

I have a UserForm with several fields on it: 5 are 'required' and the other 6 are 'optional'. If a user doesn't enter a value for ALL of the 5 'required' fields, how do I get the code to return the user to the UserForm (with, I assume, the values they already entered, still showing)?

I have the AutoOpen code that starts things off, and then, in turn, loads the UserForm with the fields that need to be populated.

I can't figure out how to route the user back to the UserForm, to enter the 'missed' data.

I know this question has been asked a bajillion times, so I apologize for the redundancy.

I am working with an Excel spreadsheet and saving it as a .csv file in order to upload to an application that parses out the .csv data as transactions. The system requires .csv files, so this is how I need to save my doc (with this extension). I have been successful at preventing Excel from coverting that long number into scientific format. I have saved as a TXT file, pasted the longer number and it displays correctly. That is all good. But I have to save as a .csv. So if I do that, close the Excel window, and then open again (as the .csv file), the numbers are back to being displayed in scientific format. I have tried creating an Excel doc from scratch and entering text in Text format, to see if this created a cleaner file. But again, the second I save as .csv, close the window and then open that file up again, that dang scientific format is back.

Does anyone have any idea of how to work around this? Once I have successfully gotten the numbers to display as the long-chain number, how can I get them to "stick" so that they don't revert back to scientific format when I reopen the file?

Thanks so much for your help!
