Creating a Bar Chart with a Broken X-Axis

Is it possible to create a bar chart with a broken X-axis? I found Peltier's nifty broken Y-axis instructions and have created a column chart using it. I've seen it posted that the method can be used to create a broken x-axis as well, but have not been able to figure out how.

However, I think a bar chart would be better to display the info, but cannot get the markers that would allow me to break the axis to display on the x-axis. They just scatter straight to the y.

    Any advice would be aprpeciated.

Can you post how far you got with Peltier's method? I'd like to see your data for the scatter.

    cheers

I'm really new to forums like this. How can I insert a picture?

    Thanks!

Hi, click "Go Advanced" below the "Quick Reply" box and then click the paper clip icon to attach a file.

A picture will probablt be useless. To help you we need to see the Excel file, so we can see what's going on beneath the surface of the chart.

Re: Creating a Bar Chart with a Broken X-Axis

    Hi,

I actually figured it out. I couldn't see the scatter points on the x axis because the y axis points were set to 0. I changed one of them to 500 to find the rest and was able to get the technique to work.

    Thanks so much!

Could you please explain how you solved this to save me starting another new thread?

The previous poster did just that. It that does not help you with your current issue, it's perfectly fine -- actually: preferred! -- to start your own question.

Then we can analyse your specific situation with your data and needs.

Please feel free to ask. You can post a link to this thread, if you feel it will be helpful to get started.

    cheers,
