    Weight and balance chart

    Hi guys,

I have good of knowledge in computer networking, but I'm in need of something in excel that isn't an easy area for me.

I have a spreadsheet that does some airplane loading calc (weight and balance) and gives me the following data (for example):

    Depature weight: 1900; Arm 2,38;

I need to plot the data as a DOT into a specific chart (weight and balance chart) that's found in the airplane manual (see link below).

    http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/5503/grafic.jpg

Is it possible ? where should I start ? I saw some examples on the net, but it doesn't describe how to use an image. Can I use this image on background and put the chart limits over it using invisible color ? How do I tell excel to use diagonal lines ?

Any help will be really appreciated. I'm looking for some kind of tutorials. I have more 3 different charts that I need to do the same.

    Thanks

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

You want to chart airplane loading data into a chart template, so there's a good start for a better title.

    Re: Weight and balance chart

They would all have to be separate series. See, for example, http://www.auf.asn.au/groundschool/umodule9.html.

I'm not sure what all those diagonal lines are in your plot. If you have the data to create a plot like the one above for your a/c, all you need to do is plot TOW vs CG position on the chart to see if you're within CG limits. A separate table can sum the weights and moments for fuel, pilot, copilot, cargo, ...

    Re: Weight and balance chart

Sure, all i need is to plot the TOW and ALW vs CG on the chart and print it to archieve (I already have a spreadsheet cel with these numbers, i only need to plot over that image). But i need to use that "custom chart" and if you see the image that i've sent before, the chart is tilted to left on the left side and tilted to right on the right side.. How do I tell excel these "limits" because if it's a simple chart (square) the 2,083 CG will be different in 1000kg and 1550kg..

    Thanks

    Re: Weight and balance chart

That the CG position is not orthogonal to TOW is problematic. If you have the underlyign data, yoy could recreate it as an ordinary x-y graph like the link I posted.

You could instead crop the picture and use it as the fill in the plot area of an x-y chart, but then you'd need a transformation to convert CG position as a function as TOW so that it plots appropriately.

I thought it was only to determine where the graph starts and ends.
I really need to use this format, so I guess I'll leave it alone and still ploting these two points with a pen, because I have no idea how to solve this function.

    Thanks for your patience.

Welllll -- do you have a table of TOW vs CG position for the a/c?
