word wrap to the next row

I have rows (B20:G20) to (B24:G24) merged. I want to type text in B20 and when it gets to the end of G20 to automatically flow into B21; and when it gets to G21 to automatically flow into row (B22:G22) and so on.

I can press enter at the end of lets say G20 and go to B21 but I have to be careful to limit the end of the text so it fits in B20:G20 so I want to automate this.

Basically I want a word wrap to the next row at the end of cell column G.

Per your description, it sounds to me like you are pressing the Enter key based on a visual observation of when the line of text you are entering is nearing the visible cell border of column-G. By pressing Enter you ARE NOT wrapping text, you are telling Excel to accept the entry then move to the next row.

Word-wrapping, in Excel, is when you press Alt-Enter keys to force a new line while in Edit-mode or you set the cell properties to wrap text automatically within the cell (but not to a new row).

What you are asking may be possible using VBA code, but it is not advisable. Instead of using merged cells, why not widen the column (B) to accomodate the text and set the word-wrap property to on?
