I have created and shared a workbook on my network at work. While some people have no issue making changes and saving, other cannot save and get this error when attempting to, referencing an (as far as I know) non-existent file.

The one variable I have discovered is that when I open the Share Workbook window the names of the people who cannot save show twice, where people who are not having the issue only show up once. These people do not have more than one instance of the workbook opened and everyone is running on Office 2007.

Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.

Yes, Shared Workbooks suck and should be avoided at all costs.

One thing that can happen over a network is that shared wb's can create ghost copies that need to be deleted. I haven't used them for years, but if I recall you also need to go in and delete the ghost users.

Yeah, I've tried saving it as .xlsx and .xls (it was originally .xlsm) to see if that would solve the issue, but these users keep having it come up as 'Read-Only.'

Even though everyone is on Office 2007, I'm thinking it must be some sort of compatibility issue where those with the problem are missing some sort of Windows Update or something.
