Calculating annual compounded rent increases

How can I calculate a 3% anual rent increase over 15 years (3% over the last year's rent)?

Current anual rent in A1 try
A1*1.03^14 Actually, it should be to the power of 14 as you wouldn't increase in year 1, the formula yeilds £9,075.54 which is the same as coumpounding Start rent of 6000 by 3% year on year starting at the end of year one

Starting £6,000.00
year 2 £6,180.00
year 3 £6,365.40
year 4 £6,556.36
year 5 £6,753.05
year 6 £6,955.64
year 7 £7,164.31
year 8 £7,379.24
year 9 £7,600.62
year 10 £7,828.64
year 11 £8,063.50
year 12 £8,305.40
year 13 £8,554.57
year 14 £8,811.20
year 15 £9,075.54

the same thing but using cell values
put amount in a1
interest rate in a2 either as 0.03 or 3%
number of years in a3
=A1*(1+A2)^A3

I'm trying to write a formula for total rent paid over the term of a lease. So basically the total of years 1-15 above but using one formula.

Hi yeabocks, I have the same frustration - I want a formula to calculate the total rent paid over time including increase,
and annoyed no one will give a straight answer to this simple question!

I know that the rent for a GIVEN YEAR = startingRent * (1 + increaseFraction)^number of years,
but my algebra is too weak to figure out how to calculate the sum, as the increase amount is changing every year.

Were you able to find an answer to this? Please let me know, thanks!

If you follow the administrator's instruction and start a new thread, I can provide a simple formula, if your requirements are the same as the original posting, to wit: rent increases by a fixed percentage offer a specified number of years or months.

I'll await your new thread. Be sure to include a complete statement of your requirements.

Was there a new thread started? What is the formula to calculate the sum of the total rent paid over 15 years. The formula given so far only gives what the rent might be in a given year.
