How to show Images in a Cell based on a condition?

    Dear Forum,

I am aware of the option of displaying an Image/Picture via comment but I need to show a picture based on a condition..

I tried manually selecting the picture from the path mentioned below :
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Pictures"

I have 2-3 images that I want to display based on a condtion when the time turns 16:00 hrs then the First Image Should be displayed, when it turns 16:30 hrs then the second and 17:00 the last image.

I tried researching the forum, however none of the threads provided an option to to add my Images..which can be later viewed...

So how do I do this?

    Dear Forum,

Unfortunately have not got a response till now , however I have been able to know how to Insert a Picture in the Sheet which I was completely ignorant about... That's the one good thing and the other is digging this good post form an earlier response..

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-pictures.html

I am refferring to the #2 post in this thread by Andy Pope who has attached a filw which works fantastically and to top it all--Its a NOn-VBA Solution..

But the worst thing is I dont see any formulas anywhere which makes it work and therefore do not know how to display the Images.

Can someone please help me based on this as I have added that file fore reference....

Re: How to show Images in a Cell based on a condition?

    Dear Forum,

There was an error, due to my several tries of adding the images there was a cluster of these images which were invisible on execution and therefore not tracked and then when I changed the code to check all the Images I realized my folly and immediately deleted the Images and Inserted new Images with the Name "Picture 1, 2 , 3 etc.. and then it worked well..

    Just want to mention that..!

    I tried this link..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_6nG24sZOg

    too!

But as shown it does not accept the Image Name..

If I put individual Pictures as Names then it works but that is not what is shown in the presentation,,

So what is that I am missing!

Re: How to show Images in a Cell based on a condition?

If I create this way by creating different names of the belwo:

    Name
    BOB
    Carol
    Ted
    Alice

It works but when I tried using the formula
    NAme > Image = INDIRECT("Sheet2!$C$C"^VLOOKUP(Sheet1!$A$1,PicTable,2,0))

Re: How to show Images in a Cell based on a condition?

    Dear Forum,

    Finally Got It,

    Eureka...

It was so simple but just got complicated with me strangely and importantly its NON_VBA simple NAME ranges and Data Validation List and Camera Tool...

Just for the readers to make it useful..

    1. Create a list of Picture Names and Pictures Next to it in the adjoining column in a Sheet renamed as Picture Database
    Ex:- Col A - Picture Name & Col B - Pictures.

    2. Remove any Borders and Remove Gridlines in the above sheet..
    Name - >
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    3. In any other sheet named Selection - create a simple dropdown with the List of all names as shown below:
    Name - >
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    4. Select any cell with a Picture in it the Picture Database sheet and then click on the Camera Icon in Excel 2007 and then paste in the Selection sheet in a cell where you owuld like the dynamic pictures to appear and immediately rename it to Picture.. if you have de-clicked it please click again and the formula toolbar just add as =Picture and there you go..

    5. Try selecting any other name and you would get a different picture for every selection..

    Wow..So cool....

Re: How to show Images in a Cell based on a condition?

Yikes, I hate to bring up old stuff, but I've been working on a document we all use at my work here. I've managed to tailor the image examples given to get basic functionality going, but now it seems to randomly choose two of my pictures and scrunch them together or grab up some text from either side of the designed image.

Anyone have clue on how to get a more uniform look? The example is a little messy now since ive been dragging some stuff around to try and troubleshoot. I'm also in the works of doing the image selection on another pull down for changing the bottom logo, but first things first.

File is too large for attaching to the forum, so:

Thanks for you advice at this time!

    Bryan
