    search and replace special characters

I have a worksheet that I produced from optical character recognition, and there are a lot of funky characters that I need to get rid of. One is a line break or carraige return (I assume it's the same character that I could insert by entering ALT+ENTER).

How do I search for this special character to replace it? How do I identify what that invisible character is?

    Thanks

If it's a line feed, you can do Edit > Find and Replace. With the cursor in the Find box, press and hold the Alt key, and on the NUMERIC keypad, enter 0010 -- leave the Replace box blank and hit Replace All.

Carriage returns are resistant to that approach. Do Alt+F11 to open the VBE, do Ctrl+G if you don't see a Window titled Immediate. In that window enter

    ... and hit Return.

Thanks - the "0010" woked perfectly. So once again, I am relieved at having avoided using VB.
