Using Scroll Wheel during cell edit

    Hello,
I have recently upgraded my machine to office 2007 and getting used to the
changes. The one thing that i cant get my head around is scrolling up and
down using the mouse wheel while editing the cells. For example in cell A1 i
type = A2+A1000. After i press A2+ i can scroll down to select the cell
A1000 in previous version of excel, but i am unable to do so in the newer
version. It also doesnt not work when i go to cell A1 and press F2 (edit
mode), which was working previously. I am thinking it's a simple switch or
some sort of setting that i am missing. I have looked through quite
thoroughly and still not able to resolve it. I have updated all my mouse
drivers etc...but nothing seems to work.

I am working on a Lenovo r500 thinkpad and i have synaptics pointing device
drivers installed on my machine for mouse. I installed Alps, Ultranav and
few other new mouse drivers, nothing seemed to correct this issue.

Is anyone able to suggest a resolution after checking through the examples
provided above. You assistance will be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Prad

Re: Using Scroll Wheel during cell edit

    Guys,
I have posted the earlier question and havent seen a single response yet. I have gone ahead and done my research a bit more and figured out that it works in excel safe mode, but does not work in normal mode. Hold CTRL while opening excel and it wil be opened in safe mode.

I am hoping some one is able to help me after the clue above...

    Cheers,
    Prad

I found a solution in one website, it says you have enable edit dirctly in cell, then it will work and i checked it works also.

but i dont link edit directly in cell option, what to do we have to opt for one only. MS is making life harder and harder with its each release....

    Hi,
the tick in edit directly in cells might solve this but will pose a different issue which is when ticked you cannot follow the formulas easily. Having it unticked will take you to the referring cells when you double click on it, but i cannot beleive that we would have to lose that fuctionality for doing this. This was not the case in previous version of excel.

I have posted the same question in microsoft knowledgebase and havent seen a response yet. I am planning to send an email to [email protected]

    Cheers,
    Pradeep

    U r right Pradip,

Usually when a software releases a new version it will be better than the previous versions but with all the features of predecessor, here i cant find any major advantage in 2007 version except in Filter mode.
