Spreadsheet defaults to read-only for ONE user only??

    Hi all,

Firstly, apologies if this is a "schoolboy question", but it's something
I've never encountered before, and want to ensure it's not something simple
before referring to our central IT.

A spreadsheet document is set to require a Write password when opening. The
document itself is not set to "Read Only" in its properties. For all users,
except one, the document opens correctly, requesting a password to enter
    read/write mode.

For a single user, however, the document defaults to "Read Only" mode
    without requesting a password.

This has been the case for a week or more. The user in question has the same
access permissions to the folder in question as the users who can open the
    document ok.

Are there any settings on her Excel application that would cause something
like this to happen? She's able to use other Excel documents from other
locations which have exactly the same properties in the way that she should,
so it seems to be something particular to this document - but everyone else
    can use it OK!

Any ideas would be gratefully received!
    Thanks
    DS

I'd double check those drive/folder settings.

My bet is that she doesn't have write access to that drive/folder and
windows/excel will notice that and not even bother asking her the question.

Can she save a text file (from notepad) to that drive/folder?

Thanks Dave - just tried the text file suggestion, and lo and behold, she
doesn't have write access to that folder.

Despite IT having told me she does, double checked to be sure, and told me
    again....!!

Thanks a lot for the quick response!
