    Add apostrophe to field

In order to import data into an accounting program, the account number has to be formatted with an apostrophe at the front. I've tried formatting as text. I've tried ="'"&a1.
Other than manually adding it to each number, is there any way to add the apostrophe?

    Here is the code...

Code assumes that account number to which you want to add apostrophe in the begenning is in Column A.

Change the code to meet your need.

    Add apostrophe with "'"&a1

The code seems to do the same as ="'"&A1 function. That leaves the apostrophe showing in the cell & that won't import.

you are probably trying to import the result of formula with formula still in cell
copy results paste back special /values
or are you saying you have to put the ' in to preserve 00077777 rather than displaying 7777?
    something to try is
="'"&TEXT(A1,"0000000") where the number of zeros is equal to your number length

    Re: Add apostrophe to field

Hi Shijesh, I appreciate you posting this answer, but I am new to Excel, and wanted to know if this is a macro? And if yes, how you enter it? Sorry for the stupid question.
