Macro to enter current date into active cell

It seems fairly easy, but I can't figure it out. Is it possible to set up a macro to enter today's date into the currently selected cell when ran?

Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney

Like this:

end sub
You can also press control+semicolon and it inputs the current date using a shortcut key.
