I am running Office 2007 on Windows XP. Normally when you have two workbooks open you can move or copy from one to the other. But, for some reason it is not letting me do it. After I click on move or copy I click the drop down box to select the other open workbook. But, the other open workbook does not appear in the drop down menu. Do you know why? If so, do you have a remedy?

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
Welcome to the Board.

Make sure that both workbooks are in the same instance of Excel. It sounds like you have two instances running.

An 'Instance' is a different "execution" of Excel, in this case.

Sometimes, when an external program launch Excel (for import/export data), is posible its launch a another "instance" of Excel.

Then, you have one Excel open with yours workbooks, and other Excel open with a other workbooks.

Thanks. Ok, here is a little more detail. I created a workbook with 6 worksheets under the XLXS extension. I sent it to 6 different individuals. Each one fills out their specific worksheet and emails them back to me. I take the returned worksheets and collate them into one competed workbook. They are all the same file extension same format and everything. I was able to do this on my other MAC and now on my new MAC I am unable to do it. I am running Parallel Desktop with Window XP as the virtual Machine. It was the same on my old MAC so I don't know what the issue is here.
