    Excel Autosave/Autorecover

I have closed a document (that I forgot to save), I cannot figure out how to restore the file (or if there even is still a file saved). Is there any way to recover the file or does the Excel need to 'Crash' to bring up the restore file dialog?

    Hi,

If it's not a new workbook you could try selecting > File and at the bottom there should be a list of excel files you last looked at.

If it was a new workbook which was never saved then it's gone.

The attached link will help with your excel's Auto recover function
