Protected Sheet & Allow Use Of Autofilter

    Please help me.

I've locked certain columns on my worksheet so that users cannot overtype target dates etc. I've password protected the worksheet.

The password protection means that for some reason the users can't use the autofilters that are on the header row.

Can someone help me solve this problem; I still need the locked cells and password protection on the sheet but the success of the sheet depends on users being able to filter for specific rows using the autofilter....

    Awaiting any responses.....

When you select "Protect Sheet" from the Tools menu, you can check off the box for "Use Autofilter".

    Happy Holidays!

Oooh you got my hopes right up......

Unfortunately I only get 3 tick boxes when I protect the sheet:

    Contents
    Objects
    Scenarios

I've tried every combination and it still isn't working.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

I've copied/pasted the code into VB Editor and changed sheet name/password, saved the module, closed and re-opened workbook, enabled macros, but each time I get the message "Compile Error Syntax Error".

    VB code is as follows:

Any ideas where I've gone wrong please?

Use the following and change 'Sheet1' to whatever sheet you are relating to. This needs to be copied and pasted to the worksheet. Go to
    Tools>macro>visual basic editor>This workbook

Paste the formula in This workbook and it should work fine.

    Does this work?

    Hi Craig,

I'm so sorry but It's still not working. Code now reads:

When I open the workbook I click Enable Macros but it doesn't seem to have protected the sheet.

    Please make my Christmas......
