Margins do not fit page size ERROR

This happens sporadically. When I have summarized data all by itself or I might have data in say Columns Q thru Z and summarized data in columns A thru J, when I go to set the print area, I get a nasty message:

Margins do not fit page size

And suddenly, every single cell becomes a printable page. I can't seem to be able to set up a proper page size without either having dimensions which don't fit my report or having each cell representing a whole page. Additionally, although this happens only once in awhile, once it happens to a certain sheet or report, it comes up again - even when I copy all the data onto a new page.

Please help!!! Thank you.

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
I always find printing in excel to a be a pain.

My only suggestion is to change the view to 'Page Break Preview' and you can then move around the print areas. Might help?

Thanks for the clarification.

When I go into "Page Break Preview", that's where the problem occurs. I'll move a column or row line to the right or down (respectively) and that's when I'll suddenly get the Margins do not fit... error box, I click "Ok", and suddenly hundreds of page breaks encompass every cell. And it's every cell, not random, but every cell.

Other people in my office have experienced this problem.

Something else that you could try is to amend the Scaling and Margin settings in the Page Setup (File/PageSetup)?

True, I can solve the "Margins do not fit" error by going into Page Setup, but then I can't go back and make any page area modifications. Only if I delete the "Print Area" specifications can I remove the error. In that case, the print area doesn't cover what I need to print - it's better, b/c I can at least print something recognizable. But, I'm unable to put everything I want to print on the appropriate number of pages.

Thanks for your help.
