Infopath forms linked to Excel - possible?

Is it possible to link Infopath forms to Excel? Could anybody point me in the right direction if this is possible?

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

Infopath can not at this time directly link to excel. I have either manually exported data to excel from each form on our sharepoint site or had the infopath form submit to an access DB that has an excel workbook linked to it.
