    Hi,

this looks as if you're trying to edit a file that is being used by another user on the network. If you click "Notify" you will be notified when the other user has finished with the file. Otherwise, contact the user and ask them to close the file.

Re: how to unlock file for editing

I'm sorry to take your stage time wasim.qureshi, but I have a similar issue with this.
I use Dropbox to synchronize files with a work group over the internet. It is not the same as a share local network, because we don't have direct access to the files on the server. We rather download those files into our folder.
So, when I open a spreadsheet in Excel, it locks the file, thus changing it. Dropbox software detects this change, and thinks that the file is updated and notifies my buddies. I close the file without saving it and then Excel unlocks it, thus changing it, and making Dropbox make a new update notification to everyone in the group. Later, everyone that is on-line will see two notifications of update. If they open that file twice, they produce 4 notifications. It's like a bloody fission bomb :|
So... can we deactivate the lock?

    Thank you all

    Ecchin,

you are not attempting to provide a solution to the OP's post, but rather describe a different problem.
