Hello.

I have a problem when printing in excel, I hope someone can help me.

I have created a document that contains a normal table with 6 columns and some rows, I have included a title and a footer which are supposed to repeat in all pages. I have also included some rows, on the top of the document, to be repeated in all pages. I have arranged all the margins, manually, in the Print Preview window, so that everything appears correctly. Everything looks just the way I want it on the Print Preview, but when I print that same page, there is a space between the things I have written in the title and the table with the normal content. The space is about 1.5 cm. Of course, everything moves down and the footer is cut off the page and does not appear on the printed page.

I have gone over again and again on the margin configuration, and everything looks fine in the print preview, but always the result is the same. With the wierd space that appears, moving everything down.

Can anyone please tell me what is happening? What is the problem?

Thanks.

Have you tried Page Break View? And see if your print area is really what you think it is? As opposed to just the Print Preview.

Also, in the Page Setup>Margins tab, check the size of the Headers and Footers. They should only be large enough to contain the headers and footers you have set up, and definitely no larger than their respective top and bottom margins.

Untested, but it sounds like you might have too much "header" in the Margins tab, and not enough "footer"

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I can see the whole content and it´s fine. But when printing there´s an empty space that I don´t know where it comes from and I moves the rest of the content down.

Mary, have you tried looking at what I suggested above?

Thank you.

Yes, I tried. According to the measurement numbers and the preview, everything is fine.

I have done the "experiment" of creating a completely new document with just my name in the title or header (which would repeat in all pages) and under it a one cell with margin and some text inside it. Then I go to page preview where I move the margins so the cell will appear right underneath the header, with aprox. 2mm of space between them, and everything looks fine there, but when I print it, the result is also different; there is a much bigger space between the header (my name) and the cell. If you try this does it happen to you too?

Thank you so much for your help.

try some of these troubleshooting videos listed below at the site. the problem is often something stupid like what view you are in and also maybe you did set the print are in a funny way and accidentally included something else.

check these out and see if they can provide some insight because it could be a multitude of issues, even an accidental, repeat row or column on the page setup.
