Hello forum,
Using Excel 2003:
A user wants to be able to just copy one cell, and paste it into a selected array of cells elsewhere on the spreadsheet. Essentially cloning a cell using copy/paste.
This works on almost every computer I've tried...of course, except on the one that really matters. In this case, the user gets a message "The data on the clipboard is not the same size and shape as the the selected area"..which, it seems should not matter, because the user wants to copy a single cell onto every cell in the selected area.
The only way I can duplicate this behavior on any other computer is to copy the cell while editing it; apparently so that the cell contents, rather than the cell itself, is put on the clipboard. You can tell when this is the case because the copied cell does not have the Marquee.
If anyone has run into a solution for this, I'm all eyes, thanks. I realize that it might not be the way MS intended the program to be used, but it convenient when it works, and a mystery as to why it works on most computers, but not this one.
Mike
