I currently have a spreadsheet which copies a formula, which has been put together using the concatenate function, and 'pastes special' in another cell.
The idea is that the formula ive put together in concatenate will show up in a different cell and the link will be active showing external data.
The problem i have is that the macro will paste the formula but the formula doesnt update so all i have is a list of links, i have to go through each manually, highlight it, press enter and then the link updates with figures (which can take along time with the amount of data)
Is there any VBA which will update the cells? everything ive tried hasnt worked.

Thanks

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

thanks.

i dont think Edit-Replace will work.

If iexplain more what im trying to do then you might hopefully be able to say whether to say if im going down the right line.

The project is to pull data from different files that relate certain dates. the archived folders are named as dates and to make sure i dont have to create a new spreadsheet each i want to look at different dates, ive used concatenate to put links together on one page. Ive then got a macro to copy and paste special the formula into my main body of the sheet.

ive managed to get it to recognise weekends and not look for that data but it still pastes the formula as ='Z:\Stats\Archive\December\[03-12-2007.xls]Home'!$R$19 and not the value from R19.

I tried a macro which should update values in a range of cells but it didnt work.

Is there a way i can get it to update and show the number rather than the link?

thanks again
