I have Excel setup so that when I press "Enter" I move to the next column.

However, I would like to set up my spreadsheet so that when I hit "enter" in the last column of data, it moves to the next row down.

i.e.

I have data I need to enter in Row 1, columns A-L.

I enter data in A1 and hit "enter" and I move to cell B1 and so forth, always moving right. When I get to cell L1 however and input my data and hit "enter" I would like to be moved to cell A2.

Is this possible?

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Select the cells you want to move in, and from Format>Cells>Protection Tab, UNCHECK Locked. Password protect your sheet and use TAB key to move as you have described.

Is there any way to do it without protecting the sheet? I know if I hit tab to move across columns in a row, it moves down to the next row the column where I started hitting tab.

Hitting TAB on Cell L1, moves me back to A1. I wanted it to move to A2.

Proof,
Maybe that you have selected the first line only.
Select cells from say A1 to L15, and do as above regarding "unlocking" and password protecting the sheet.

Unless i'm mistaken, all that is required is that you select the cells.

Select A2:D50

enter will go from a2 to b2 to c2 to d2 to a3...

KenMillard,
In your method, Tab takes you A2, B2, c2 etc. Enter gives you only A2,A3,A4...then B2,B3 etc.

shajueasow,

Enter only goes A1,A2,A3 if that's how you have it set. You can set it so it moves any direction you want. (Tools-Options-edit).

Proof has it set so the enter key moves to the right instead of down. Unless I misunderstood his first post.
