For resolving the DM Macro error: Try opening Excel, click on Help / About Microsoft Excel then click in the Disabled Items box and clear out anything that is there. Close out of Excel and the DM, and try again.

I am having the same problem also trying to open documents using Hummingbird DM (v5.2.104.5), with Excel 2007 (which does not seem to have a "Help|About" that I can see).

The specific message I get is:

Cannot run the macro "DDEOpen 'C:\Documents and Settings\[userid]\Application Data\Hummingbird\DM\Temp\Data \Hummingbird\DM\Temp\[filename],XLS"". The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled.

More info:

1. Excel opens .xls files just fine if they are accessed directly (by double-clicking on the file in its subdirectory, rather than trying to start them from within Excel). But trying to open the same file from within Excel (using the File|Open command, which is intercepted by the Hummingbird DM to go get and open the file) produces the above Error.

2. However, the Hummingbird DM works just fine when opening Word 2007 files.

3. In Excel Options|Trust Center|Trust Center Settings |Macro Settings, it is set to "Enable all macros"

4. Under Add-Ins, all Add-Ins are Inactive (I've also tried it with all Add-Ins Active)

5. I ran Microsoft Office Diagnostics in Excel & it found no issues.

Any suggestions?

Solution for Excel 2010 (possibly 2007 aswell) in combination with DM 5.3.0725.

Go to File > Options > Add-ins > on the bottom you should see a pop-down list, select "disabled items" then press Start.
You should see some items in that list, make sure you select those that are related to DM and click on enable.

After this just restart DM + excel and it should work.
