Select Multiple Values from a Drop Down List

I am using Excel 2000 on a Win XP machine.

Is there a way to use a type of drop down menu, but be able to select more than one text value to populate into each cell?

I have a list of approximately 30 properties we used to describe documents and I would like to see each in the drop down menu or list, but be able to select one or more than one to associate with each document in the system (over 1000). Each document is associated with a set of these properties that is likely, but not necessarily, unique.

Is there a way this could be set up in excel, or is this a functionality that doesn't exist?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board.

Try out using Data, Filter, Auto Filter.

You can then manually select diferent values or sets of values to display the data.

Or, try a Pivot Table.

Have a great day,

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm not sure filters or a Pivot Table will do what I want as they are a way to sort through data you already have populated.

I am trying to populate a list that has all the documents so that they are associated with a cell that contains a list of all the properties.

Say you have properties A, B, C....X, Y, Z and documents 1, 2 and 3.

I am looking for an easy way that I can assign, say, properties A, L and K to document 1, then C, M, Y and Z to document 2 and properties A, C, N, P and Q to document 3 without having to type the properties into a cell for each document. Ideal I would have a list of properties and could check off a list with those that apply to each doc.

I have found a work around that involves having a row of cells, one for each possible property, and each with the same drop down options to select those that apply, and the using the ConcRange formula I was able to find code for online, but this still is a little more tedious than I would like.

Any other thoughts?
