Can't Paste Special Values

Hello All,
I’m doing a simple copy and paste special values of a range from one sheet in one workbook to another sheet in a different workbook. The sheets are set up identically. If I do a regular copy paste the data drops, however I need to paste special values. When I do the Paste special values I get the following Pop Up Warning –

This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized.

I couldn’t find anything about this and not sure why I’m getting it, but it stops me from pasting specials values.

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Have you tried just selecting a single cell for the paste operation?

I find that this works rather than selecting an area.

Sometimes you may have to create a new sheet before you do this as the identically sized message creates a default paste error

Thanks guys...Luckily the merged cells were not extremely important to the file and I was to do away with them. Once I got rid of the merged cells it worked fine.

I still find it stange and annoying that I couldn't paste special values.

Thanks Anyway,
