Apply auto filter for a single column

I want to know if we can apply the auto filter for single column. In my attached I want to apply autofilters only for some columns but not for all the columns. If I select a column and apply the autofilter it is applying for all the columns. Pls suggest.

    Good afternoon hartford27

    ...and welcome to the forum!!

On your example, if you want to place an autofilter on column B only, then highlight B2 (your heading), and the cell below it (B3). Then go to Data > Filter > Autofilter.

Probably not a Microsoft approved way - it's just a trick that works.

    Error Received

Thanks for the prompt reply. But I received an error when I highlighted B2 and B3 as shown in the figure.

    Hi hartford27

Select B2:B3 as a range, not a selection of contigious cells ie don't hold down Ctrl. That should work better.

    Hi hartford27

Just click on cell B2, hold down the mouse button and move it down to B3.
Before you were selecting two seperate ranges (each range being just one cell) which autofilter doesn't like. Doing this will create one range (being two cells) which autofilter will accept, and create an autofilter button in just one column.
