How to create a non-pivot table graph

I have a pivot table and I HATE pivot table graphs. I have trouble re-sizing them and they look horrible. I'm in Excel 2003, maybe they are better in 07.

I want to create a regular chart off the pivot table, just as I would if it wasn't a pivot table. Is there any way to do this?

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
You can set your source range to the physical address, but if you update the pivottable or pivot something, you might have to redo this.

I did set my source data to the physical address and it still recognized it as a pivot table....

Oh you're right... didn't know that.

One workaround might be to have cell links to the pivot table, such as in this example - columns D and E are links to the pivot table:

Excel Workbook
ABCDE
3Sum of Data2
4RowsTotalRowsTotal
5Row 1260Row 1260
6Row 2164Row 2164
7Row 3359Row 3359
8Row 4202Row 4202
9Row 5125Row 5125
10Grand Total1110
Sheet2

That is what I figured I might have to resort to....I just didn't want to create unnecessary redundant data.

I wish pivot table graphs looked better

Thanks

Start by selecting a blank cell that's not part of the pivot table. On step two of the chart wizard, click on the Series tab, and add your series one by one. The ranges you select can ba part of a pivot table.

It's when you try to select the pivot data on the Data Range tab that Excel decides you want a pivot chart.

I have a fresh blog entry on this:
