Question Change field names without breaking Pivot Table

When I change names or rearrange columns in my data, my Pivot tables that use that data will break.

    Any way around this?

    Help!

I don't think moving columns around should affect the PT if you keep them within the initially defined range.

As far as changing titles, you need to go back and reassign the new column names to the PT as it was prior.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

"As far as changing titles, you need to go back and reassign the new column names to the PT as it was prior."

So are you saying basically, I just need to deal with the frustration of rebuilding pivots if I have the change a column header that is associated with it?

No workaround? Because I use multiple pivot tables in my data model. I need to tweak the column headers. I really wish I didn't have to rebuild all those complex pivots. I wish MS would "fix" this.

    Thanks.

I don't use Pivot Tables really that often to have done much tests or goes at workarounds.. but I don't think there is a workaround... perhaps maybe some VBA trickery... not sure.. but not my cup of tea. I tried renaming the field heading in the pivot table to match a changed column name, but to no avail, upon refreshing the table, it still lost that column and I had to re-import it to the pivot table.

Thanks, you're really helpful. I'm not good enough at VBA to do any trickery so I'll just have to live with this.
