data validation to specific character

is there any way that i can use a character to a cell as a data validation method.

for example.

i want to use AL and AN as the only characters that will accept as a value for A1

With a small list you don't need an external list. In the Data Validation Dialog -> Source, type:

AL,AN

I want to allow users just to enter the word "blue" to a cell, if not i want a warning message. If i do it with custom and then formula =ISTEXT("blue") nothing happens. I don't want a drop down list. What can i do???
