Secondary Vertical Axis - Option Not Visible At Step 3 |
Secondary Vertical Axis - Option Not Visible At Step 3 - Excel |

I used to add them with ease in 2003 but our company has upgraded us all and I am fearful that they have scrimped and given us an inferior build to the full MS Excel 2007.
I have followed the MS inbuilt help thus far and completed these steps okay .......
In a chart, click the data series that you want to plot on a secondary vertical axis, or do the following to select the data series from a list of chart elements: Click the chart. This displays the Chart Tools, adding the Design, Layout, and Format tabs. On the Format tab, in the Current Selection group, click the arrow in the Chart Elements box, and then click the data series that you want to plot along a secondary vertical axis. On the Format tab, in the Current Selection group, click Format Selection. The Format Data Series dialog box is displayed.
Note If a different dialog box is displayed, repeat step 1 and make sure that you select a data series in the chart. On the Series Options tab, under Plot Series On, click Secondary Axis and then click Close. It is at this point I stumble as there is no option to Plot Series On against the Series options tab for me to select. I think I have checked the Excel options ok, as I wondered if it was a feature to enable / disable. Or am I looking in the wrong place?
I am unable to move on the the next part
any help would be appreciated
Cheers

include/exclude one of the series to see how the chart changes, all the
colors change and we have to spend time re-identifying which series is
which, using the legend to check the colors.
Is there a way to "lock" the colors, so that the bars stay the same colors
regardless of whether other bars are included/excluded?
Thanks!

When I create a bar chart, the bars are horizontal. I want the chart bars to be vertical. It tried to rotate the chart so that it is vertical, but the "rotate" options are greyed out.
How do I get those bars vertical?
Instead of the y axis being on the left hand side, i wish for it to cut at 0,0. I have positive and negative values and I need it to be in the centre instead of on the left.
I have tried formatting both the axis and it would appear that the x axis already cuts the y axis in the right posistion so i need to format the x axis to make the y axis cut it at 0,0. I have already tried typing in 0 instead of 1 and it keeps saying it need to be number more than or equal to 1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3 variables that I'm charting. I have one on the primary axis and it's values are in the billions. I have one on the secondary axis and it's a percentage. I need to display a 3rd who's value is in the millions. If I put it on the primary axis, you cannot see modest changes.
Is there a tricky way to get all three on one graph? I know I could split on two graphs, so that's my backup plan.
Thanks,
Dave
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this...
I need to plot percentages over time in a line graph in excel. I don't want to have to do a percentage equation in the spreadsheet, I just want excel to take two sets of values and display the percentage in the chart. For example, I need B1 as a percentage of B2 for week 1, C1 as a percentage of C2 for week 2, etc....
Can someone please offer a suggestion for how to do this? I would really appreciate it.
Also, would it be possible to link data from other sheets in the workbook into one single chart?
The Geomean function doesn't work because it only uses positive numbers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know a better way to do this?
Thanks in advance!
When I open any spreadsheet (new or already populated) the black box that normally frames the active cell is missing (showing which cell you have selected). Likewise when I 'select all' the sheet does not become shaded.
In addition:
Can not fill series
Can not change cell format (specifically to show Currency or Accounting w/$ symbol)
And I am sure there is much more that I have not found yet. I have not seen a single thread on this topic anywhere on the internet.
Help!
Example:
A1: 50
A2: 10
B1: 60
B2: 20
A3: Formula: =A1+A2 Displays: 60
Right click A3, Copy, right click B3, paste
A3 displays 60
When I click save, it will change the display value to 80.
I am trying this on his workstation and mine. Mine has Office 2010, so I think there might be an issue with the file itself.
Also, not just copy and paste. I can also just click the top cell after filling in the formula and then drag the bottom right of the cell downward and it will do the same of filling in the correct formula, but have the incorrect value.
I know that I could get him to just click save each time before really looking at the results, but that is just a band aid to the problem.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Need help to generate Series of Items in different Permuation & Combinations..
For Ex:- If there are three Items.. A B C and forming a group of 2
then the the total no of combinations would be permut(3,1) = 6...
I need this to be shown as follows depending on the no of itmes and no of group no=2 in this case...
Permuations & Combinations are as follows:
AB
AC
BC
CA
CB
BA
My question is, how do I always enable the content?
Thanx
We have checked to make sure that the workbook and worksheet:
1. Are not protected
2. That there are no hidden worksheets
3. That there are not worksheets that exist with the same name
4. That not all the worksheets are selected
There are only two worksheets in this workbook.
Any ideas of why we are unable to make a copy of this worksheet within the same workbook or to another workbook?
BUT.......if I click in the cell and right click and chose "pick from list" the list will then appear.
Why is this happening? Why does the drop down list not appear when I click on the arrow but only work if I chose the "pick from list" ???
I need the drop down arrow to work
I am running Excel 2011 for Mac.
I have a Worksheet with a small amount of data, and when I click the Pivot Table button it automatically creates the Pivot Table in a new Worksheet. The Pivot Table data is fine, but I want it to display alongside the source data.
I've tried using the Move Pivot Table option and choosing to Create Pivot Table in Existing Worksheet and choosing a source cell alongside my current data, but nothing appears. Also, I checked in Edit menu and found that the Pivot Table appears to have not even been created/moved because there is no option to undo it.
Appreciate any help, let me know if you have any further questions.

I am using Excel 2007. In prior versions of excel, when copying data, if I wanted to copy visible cells only, I would select "Go To, Special, Visible Cells Only" and then copy a range a cells. The default was always set to copy everything (including hidden cells), unless I specifically selected copy visible cells only.
In 2007, the default is somehow set to always copy only visible cells. Sometimes, I want to be able to copy all cells including those hidden but cannot seem to figure out how to swith this default option. I looked under Excel Options and did not see an option there.
I don't want to have to unhide and rehide everything each time i copy. I know i could do the hiding and unhiding via VBA but would prefer not to have to.
Thanks for your suggestions.
In my Excel spreadsheet I have a column to store the email addresses of my clients. Every time I click on the text of an email address, it automatically opens Outlook with a new message composed to that address. How do I stop this from happening? I don't even use Outlook for my email and this is really frustrating. I've tried changing the format of the column to no avail.
Thank you; your help is most appreciated.
ie. add points to find their concentration on a standard curve.
I was thinking of trying a nested if/and statement but I haven't quite figured out how to do it. Basically I want to identify the two values where it switches from positive to negative and also indentify the values where it goes negative to positive, I can then fit a straight line between them to find a better approximation of the intercept (though it might not be necessary). Preferably I'd like it all one function as I'm not doing it in VBA (I might do later though, we'll see).
Can anyone suggest how I'd find these value or the x-intercept. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
