If Equal To Or Less Than Formula

Hi,

Have a problem trying to get a formula to work.

I am trying to set a scorecard up where it will give points depending on the % actual.

For example:

if less than 60%, then 0,
if equal to or greater than 60% but less than 75%, then 1
if equal to greater than 75% but less than 80%, then 2 and so on.

I have been playing around with the example below, but can't seem to get it working.

[php]=IF(A1<60%,0,IF(A1>A1<75%,1,))[php]

Maybe it 's because I pickled my brains last night.

I'm trying to write a formula that will automatically take a group of football (soccer) scores, compare them with a set of predictions, and then allocate points according to how close the predictions are to the actual scores.

E.g.
Manchester United 3 - 0 Arsenal
Prediction: 4 - 1
Points: 1

I've found a formula online that works for most scores; the correct score (e.g. 3 - 0), a correct win (e.g. 4 - 1), and in the case of a draw (e.g Man Utd 1 - 1 Arsenal, and the prediction 2 -2), correct draw (but not the correct score). The points are as follows: Correct draw (Prediction = result): 4 Correct win (Prediction = result): 3 Correct win, incorrect score (Winner correct, score not): 1 Correct draw, incorrect sco 1

The formula I found online for all but the correct draw is: =IF(A3&B3=C3&D3),3,IF(AND(A3=B3,C3=D3),1,IF(AND(A3>B3,C3>D3),1,IF(AND(A3<B3,C3<D3),1,0)))))

Could someone help me work out how I can write a formula to add before the above that will check the contents of four cells (the home score, away score, home prediction, away prediction), and if the number in all 4 cells are the same, allocate 4 points? I've tried using averages, but some combinations would void this. I've also used the SUM function, but the same happens, as with MULTIPLYING.

Something like =IF(A3:D3) are equal, 4,0

Below are a few examples of what I mean:
(Result) (Prediction) (Points)
A B C D E
3 - 3 3 - 3 4
2 - 1 3 - 1 1
1 - 0 1 - 0 3
3 - 3 2 - 2 1

Please can someone help me. How do I create an IF formula to find cells where the number of hours in one cell is more than the number of hours in another cell? eg one cell has 0.40 hrs and another has 02.25 hours - I want have an IF formula to say where 02.25hrs > 0.40 then type "FAILED" but I cant overcome the greater than problem on the hours which is giving me the wrong answer.

I have a dillemma here,

I have to create a schedule which incorporates lunches automatically (either half hour or 1-hour lunches, depending on the circumstances).

The schedule only has time in and time out, but I need excel to automatically deduct the lunch break depending on the circumstance:

If you worked less than 6 hours = no lunch
If you worked more than 6 hours, but less than or equal to 8 hours = 0.5 hour lunch
If you worked more than 8 hours = 1 hour lunch

I am assuming the formula for this will be really long, but I have looked online everywhere and have not found ONE formula for it. I can't put lunch breaks seperately, so all I have to work with is Time in/out.

Also, I wouldn't be able to use military time, so I don't know how excel can assume that time in is in the morning, and time out is in teh evening and/or half-day.

If someone can help it would be greatlyyyy appreciated

make the text red and bold when the number is equal or less than 10,000
is there a way I can make cell E3 display a message when the C3
condition is true?? or if not a message is there a way to make a
message box pop up when my C3 condition of less then or equal to 10,000

Great tip! But one thing: On my machine (Excel 2008 Mac), the values in the formula cell are not correctly calculated simply by dragging. Instead, the values are equal to the cell above (the first entry formula value). To get the correct value, I need to click in the formula bar and then hit enter. (I only discovered this after an hour of tinkering, figuring I had botched the formula!)

Are there any ways around this so that it updates upon dragging the formula?


What formula would I use if the total sum of a column was greater than 4.00 then I would minus 0.35. If not minus nothing.

Here's my question...I have a list of numbers and I want to know how many combinations (and what they are) of adding the numbers will equal an amount.
e.g.
List of Numbers
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8
9
10

Amount to be reached = 12

These are some of the possible combinations to reach 12 :
2+10
3+9
4+8
5+7
3+4+5
6+3+2+1

Is there a function in Excel that will do this for me? I want to know which numbers (i.e. cells) can be added to reach 12. AND, if possible, colorcode the cells added for each combination.

This is probably an easy question for most of you, but it's killing me. I tried searching before I posted this, but the suggestions given didn't seem to work for me.

I need to look up data from a cell on one Excel sheet, compare it to a list on a 2nd sheet and when they equal, take a value from a different column on the 2nd sheet and drop it back on the 1st sheet. Since that's a horrible explanation, let me try explaining it this way:

Sheet 1
Column A has a long list of code type 1s
Column E has a long list of code type 2s

Sheet 2
Cell C2 has code 1
Cell E2 needs code 2

I know it should take an index/match function, but nothing I try is working. What I'm trying is the following formula in Cell E2 of sheet 2:

=INDEX('Sheet 1'!A:A,MATCH(C2,'Sheet 1"!E:E,0),5)

But all I get is no result. What's driving me bonkers is that if I copy everything over to a single sheet, that formula works fine.

I'm trying to set up a basic formula to clear out unwanted cells. Basically, if the cell is not equal a number, I'd like it to be cleared of any information. I would rather not use a space, because I have text that is overlapping between cells and would like it to be legible.

Here's the basic formula:

=if(A1>0, A1, ???)

I am new to using Excel and I am not very computer literate. I am looking for some help with a spreadsheet I am making. Here is the problem:

I have a column of 14 numbers in cells A1 to A14. If all of these values are less than 2%, I would like a "Pass" to display in cell B1. If any of these values are greater than 2% I would like a "Fail" to display in cell B1.

I have got a formula that works for a single cell but I can't figure out how to get it to apply to more than one cell. For example, I have entered =IF(A1<2,"Pass","Fail") in cell B1. Now if the value I enter in A1 is less than 2, it shows a "Pass", and if the value in A1 is greater than 2 it shows a "Fail" in cell B1. How can I get this to apply to all of the cells from A1 to A14?

If somebody could help me out that would be great.

Hi there. I know it sound like a really simple thing but its really stumped me.

Instead of the y axis being on the left hand side, i wish for it to cut at 0,0. I have positive and negative values and I need it to be in the centre instead of on the left.

I have tried formatting both the axis and it would appear that the x axis already cuts the y axis in the right posistion so i need to format the x axis to make the y axis cut it at 0,0. I have already tried typing in 0 instead of 1 and it keeps saying it need to be number more than or equal to 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to calculate our On Time Delivery. I want this as a simple percentage of jobs. I have got this running in the following way:

Column M - Estimated Delivery dates
Column N - Actual Delivery dates
Column O - =IF(SUM(M2-N2)>0,1,0)

Then I have calculated On Time Delivery as: =SUM((SUM(O2:O252))/(COUNTA(N2:N252)))

This seems to work fine. My problem is, if we enter a date in Estimated without a corresponding Actual date, the formula for Column O fills out anyway and improves our On Time Delivery Percentage. How can I set this up so that the formula doesn't calculate if there is no data in Column N?

Still learning VBA - I am trying to delete an entire row based on a condition in one cell in the row. Typically I would just filter on that value and delete the rows, but I am not sure if that is a possibility in VBA code. Can you provide the code if not too complex.

Select Cell A1 if value is 100 delete entire row, else skip to next row. Then loop through each row in the spreadsheet till all rows with selected cell equal to 100 are deleted.

Im working with a large data spreadsheet that has Yes and No answers in different columns. There are blanks within the selection too.
I need to calculate only the Yes.
I have tried using the filters in the Pivot Table field list and they are not working.
So now i'm trying to add a COUNTIF formula in the Calculated Fields section.
The formula I'm using is =Countif('Time limit extension'="yes") and i get the answer "too few."
What should I be using in the formula to get the calculated field to work? I have search the whole forum and I haven't found an answer that can help me.

i know about proper formula =proper(a1) , but proper formula is make uppercase to all first letter in all words, we just need first letter in first words to be uppercase (and to every first words after dot if it can)


I have a spreadsheet with simple (addition/subtraction) formulas. The file is quite large and the formulas are too. All of a sudden, the formulas stopped working except when I double click in the cell containing the actual formula. For example, if I enter "2" in each cell, A2 and B2, cell B3 should reflect "4" because there is a formula in cell B3 which totals cells A2 and B2. Only by double clicking on cell B3 will the program actually calculate. I'm totally perplexed and so is my IT contact. Anyone?


Today I ran into an odd problem. I typed in values for column A rows 1 through 10 then values for column B rows 1 through 10. then in column C, I made the formula C1=A1/B1. The math was correct it showed 542 in the C1 cell. So I dragged that formula down and it showed 542 in all column C cells which is not correct. And when I went to check to see if the formula was correctly dragged it was. For instance, the formula in C2 is =A2/B2 however the value of that cell showed 542 which was not the correct math/value.

But it gets even more weird. When I click on the Column C cells and then it shows the formula up top in the formula bar and if I put my cursor anywhere in the formula bar and hit Return the formula does not change however the correct value then appears in the Column C cell. It is like the act of putting the cursor in the formula activates it to work properly but until it is activated that C cell shows the value of the cell which it was dragged down from.

This is quite bizarre. Has anyone ever seen this before? I have no idea what is going on. I ran a scan for viruses and none were found. I tried it on several new/different spreadsheets but it keeps happening.

Ran into a problem I've never seen before. When dragging a cell across that contains a sum equation the result was the following cells with the same value. Inside the cell it showed what would be the correct new equation, but the value was still from the original cell. Any ideas on what's causing this?

If I double click the cell and then hit enter it will re-total the area and then give me the correct value, but I'd obviously rather is just work right the first time.


I want to add data points to the scatter plot that are not part of the data
ie. add points to find their concentration on a standard curve.
