What is the proper way to construct a formula for an if then statement in order to solve for a value (i.e. "x") that is in cell A1 meet the following criteria:
If X is greater than or equalt to 3.50 . . . then the answer is 1
If X is greater than or equal to 3.00 and less than 3.50 . . . then the answer is 2
If X is greater than or equal to 2.50 and less than 3.00 . . . then the answer is 3
If X is greater than or equal to 0.00 and less than 2.50 . . . then the answer is 4

Please can someone help me. I am new to using Excel and I am not very computer literate. I am looking for some help with a spreadsheet I am making. Here is the problem:
I have a column of 14 numbers in cells A1 to A14. If all of these values are less than 2%, I would like a "Pass" to display in cell B1. If any of these values are greater than 2% I would like a "Fail" to display in cell B1.
I have got a formula that works for a single cell but I can't figure out how to get it to apply to more than one cell. For example, I have entered =IF(A1<2,"Pass","Fail") in cell B1. Now if the value I enter in A1 is less than 2, it shows a "Pass", and if the value in A1 is greater than 2 it shows a "Fail" in cell B1. How can I get this to apply to all of the cells from A1 to A14?

I would like to create a formula that has a not-to-exceed answer.
Example: I want the answer not-to-exceed $10.00
$6.00 + $3.00 = $9.00
$6.00 + $7.00 = $10.00

How do I calculate the number of batches per hour? Here's what I have so far:
Cell B5: start time: 4:15 formatted as 4:15:00 am
Cell B6: finish time: 6:15 formatted as 6:15:00 am
Cell B7: total time: 2:00 formula in cell: =TEXT(B6-B5,"h:mm")
Cell B8: total batches processed: 22 (this is entered manually)
Cell B9: batches per hour: formula in cell: =B8/TEXT(B7,"h")
as long as I have this formula in cell B9 the answer comes out correct which should be 11 per hour.
If the formula in B9 is B8/B7, the answer is 264.0, Is this because of the way excel is reading the total time or the total time is formatted as a time, not an actual number? Is this the correct way to solve the problem?

is there a way I can make cell E3 display a message when the C3
condition is true?? or if not a message is there a way to make a

e.g.
List of Numbers

2
3
4
5
6
7
8
9
10
Amount to be reached = 12
These are some of the possible combinations to reach 12 :
2+10
3+9
4+8
5+7
3+4+5
6+3+2+1
Is there a function in Excel that will do this for me? I want to know which numbers (i.e. cells) can be added to reach 12. AND, if possible, colorcode the cells added for each combination.

I am needing a formula that would cause a currency amount from a calculation to round up or down to the nearest 100.00 mark. The current formula is ie: =E10*F10 (e10 being an amount of money and f10 being a percentage fo it.) I am needing the resulting answer to round up or down to the nearest 100. So if the answer is below the 50 mark it would round down and above it would round up. If that is not possible then just rounding down would be acceptable.
How do i do this??

I'm attempting to filter columns E, G, and I all at the same time. I need to
display rows that have values greater than 0 in any one of those three
columns. So far I can only filter progressively. If I filter column E and
then filter column G, the second filter is only applied to the results of the
first filter.

Great tip! But one thing: On my machine (Excel 2008 Mac), the values in the formula cell are not correctly calculated simply by dragging. Instead, the values are equal to the cell above (the first entry formula value). To get the correct value, I need to click in the formula bar and then hit enter. (I only discovered this after an hour of tinkering, figuring I had botched the formula!)
Are there any ways around this so that it updates upon dragging the formula?

I'm trying to set up a basic formula to clear out unwanted cells. Basically, if the cell is not equal a number, I'd like it to be cleared of any information. I would rather not use a space, because I have text that is overlapping between cells and would like it to be legible.
Here's the basic formula:

I have a spreadsheet that when I copy the formula, it copies correctly
(changes the cells it should subtract), however, the result stays the same.
It matches the formula I copied it from, even though the cells to calculate
are now different. I even did a paste special and said only formula, but
still, same result. If I actually type in the formula, it works fine, but I
have a lot I need to copy and paste. Is there a way I can fix this?

Hi there. I know it sound like a really simple thing but its really stumped me.
Instead of the y axis being on the left hand side, i wish for it to cut at 0,0. I have positive and negative values and I need it to be in the centre instead of on the left.
I have tried formatting both the axis and it would appear that the x axis already cuts the y axis in the right posistion so i need to format the x axis to make the y axis cut it at 0,0. I have already tried typing in 0 instead of 1 and it keeps saying it need to be number more than or equal to 1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how to count number of occurances where value of 1 is 3 consecutive times? Obviously answer is 3 in this instance but is there an excel formula to count/sum this?

It's for a house cleaning price list, with two sets of prices. I want the formula to say if the value in E7 is R, i want to lookup the value for the house in the second column. If the value in the cell is anything else, i want to lookup the value for the house in the third column.
So in sense, my formula should look like =IF (E7=1,"=VLOOKUP(A10,'Clean Prices'!$A$2:$C$58,2,FALSE)","=VLOOKUP(A10,'Clean Prices'!$A$2:$C$58,3,FALSE)")
But it doesn't work. Is it possible to nest a vlookup in an if statement?
